Any elite fighter with a less graceful career ending than Roy?

If Roy fought Mike between the Lennox and Etienne fight when he was supposed to, I suspect Mike woulda got to him after Roy controlled the early rounds.

Tyson after Etienne means he had the stamina of a fat diabetic, and Roy woulda TKOed him in probably 5.

Exactly. He certainly is a dramatic and recent example, but boxing history is littered with cases like this.

Ezzard Charles is a guy who comes to mind. After he lost to Marciano the second time, he basically hung around for the next 5 years, mostly losing to guys who couldn't carrry his spit-bucket.

I suppose the saving grace for Tyson in comparison to Roy is that he had a titanic chin and lost out of sheer exhaustion and loss of will. He just flat out gave up or fell over.

Again...I stated that in the first post that is extremely common in boxing. I was just asking if Roy is the worst case? Even Archie Moore wasn't needing sniffing salt to wake up very other time he was fighting.

Here's the thing, we don't even know if he's done yet. That's the scary part.

Would Holyfield be a comparable case? :think

He ain't getting KO'd but it is evident in every interview that the brain damage is piling up. If someone say "disgraceful ending" Holyfield is the first name that enters my mind.

Jones is a ****in deluded idiot. An unbelieveable fighter in his prime and no one will forget how good he was but the man is thick **** choosing to fight. If he didnt realise it was over when Danny Green knocked him out he is never going to. The man is going to get hurt and it will be his own fault. I have no ****in sympathy for him.

He did yes bot to the best fighter in the world and an extra 20 or so million in his back pocket. Not like Jones who is getting embarressed in places like Austrailia and Russia against people he would have ****in slaughtered in his prime.

Oh clearly he's a prime example of a disgraceful ending...but still nobody has knocked the man out cold several times!

    Roy's losses have been tragic. Like Louis-Marciano x 4.

Fernando Vargas went for a romp in the hay with defeat at the end of his career! It was awful to watch.

Well, that's true. Listen, I am not arguing that Jones is clearly right there with one of the worst late-career drop offs, arguably the biggest fall of all time.

However, there are others who are "in the discussion."

this is how elite fighters finish. lewis, mariciano, tunney, calzaghe are the exception.

Ole Roy sure is a disgrace. Did anyone else notice how he looks 100 now. My god, he didn't look near that old in the previous fights
