I dont see how Mosley has gone out bad.... Dude made like 6 million dollars in his final fight, went twelve rounds with the best fighter in the world and still has never been Koed. Meldrick Taylor had a really shitty ending. Tyson had a really sad ending as well. Roy is really accumulating serious damage though. Holyfield has to take the cake in the modern era.

 

Some people say that Roy isn't doing it for the money, but I really can't believe that. Those weigh-in pics.. Roy looked like he was about to walk the plank.. get thrown to the sharks. He must be doing it because he needs the money.

Sugar Ray Leonard being KTFO by Hector Camacho at 154 was absolutely embarrasing. Camacho was shot too.

Holman Williams lost 5 of his last 6
Bob Montgomery lost his last 7
Chalky Wright lost 8 of his last 10
The great Ezzard Charles went 6-12 at the end of his career, 5 loses by KO.
Edddie Perkins lost his last 4
Lew Jenkins lost his last 4
Rocky Lockridge lost 4 of his lat 5
Terry Norris last his last 3 also.


All these guys were elite at one time and out of all those loses I could only tell you a few of the guys they lost to. I could tell you alot about who they beat though and what they accomplished. Nobody in boxing is going to remember Danny Green or Denis Lebedev 50 years from now. Roy Jones will be talked about in boxing long after hes gone.

 

Hopkins was beaten by a debuting fighter if that counts.

Roy has to retire for his health, but another reason is that he has been losing now since 2004. That is 7 years now and a big chunk of his career. If he keeps losing and being stopped, we are going to remember him for being knocked out. He does not have a big list of great fights in his career. he was dominant and we all know it, but he does not have big names or big fights so his knockout losses will be remembered.

 

the problem with Roy is that he does not have great fights to talk about after he is gone. With Ali or Hagler or Hearns or most great you have certain fights which stand the test of time. Jones does not. Maybe his knockout over Hill was good, but Hill was over the hill at that point and that fight is not thought of much. Jones has lost to good fighters in big fights on the big stage.
