A gem I just found out recently Robinson vs Pep. Great commentary, I learned that they fought each other for real in the amateurs as bantams. Love the sound of that old film projector. I have seen Tyson do a few exhibitions and would like to know of any and all that are available to view! This content is protected
Ya they went at it a few times.. They fought in a barn one night. And from how Pep describes it, given up a lot of weight and all, SRR nearly knocked his head off .. I'm sure it must have been pretty hard core
As an Indy boy, here's one that has flown under the radar. In Marvin Johnson's first year as a pro Len Hutchins came to Indy from Detroit for a 4 round exhibition with him, with 12 oz. gloves. Not open to the public (darnit) but "The Stinger" gave Marvin a boxing lesson which I would think gave Marvin some 'education' for future fights.
The Muhammad Ali vs Michael Dokes exhibition is fascinating as a sort of historic time capsule moment.
I totally forgot about this one Thanks! Only one of two exhibitions I've seen where someone actually wanted to win. Seemed personal to Lyle. Oh, the other was Martin 'RawDog' Paine the CBC champ aka Charity boxing champ! This content is protected
is only an exhibition but just great to see these two in the ring together, Arguello and Jofre This content is protected
Alzado was seriously crazy due to the steroids he was taking and that finally killed him. I was living in Denver at the time of the exhibition and wasn't surprised that it took place because Alzado really thought he was a top level boxer.
There was some footage with Jack Dempsey who reunited in the ring with a fighter in their old age. I thought it was Tunney but I can't find it. Anyone might know of this event? Dempsey got in the ring with a suit on...and the two started doing the waltz or something, not exactly an exhibition, rather a nostalgic video.
