theirs always a lot of debate about all time lists due to fighters of different generations, modern fighters seem to be fresh on everybodys mind. I want to know who anybody thinks should be on the all time list who has been active since 1990.

    i say
    leonard
    hearns
    duran
    chavez
    jones jr
    whittaker

are certainly worth considerin. the first 3 givens in my opinion. perhaps the last 3 if it was top 20

Top 10 p4p all time is a very select group.

I say definitely Duran, most likely Jones Jr., maybe Leonard, the rest that you listed, I say no.

I would consider Holyfield as well depending on the criteria. Purely as a heavyweight in terms of dream matches, no. However, he was an unbelievable cruserweight and he gave so much to the sport.

No way Jones belongs in a top 10 ATG list his career lacked the depth and Charecter of the 10 best ever, that and being unconscious on the ground twice to non hall of fame fighters should seal the deal. Any one who says different should start doing a little research and intelligently come to a conclusion.

Most likely a difference in criteria. I try to use a comprehensive approach to all time great status.

    In order of importance:

    Resume/accomplishment
    Longevity (overlaps accomplishment)
    Raw Talent
    Heart

Anything else comes after those and I'll admit that this criteria can make some fighters victims of their times.

I don't necessarily rank a more recent fighter higher than an older fighter just because I think he'd win a dream match.

I approach ranking this way because I think it's much more grounded in reality than the way others approach it. Most fantasy match-ups can be argued until the end of time.

    Duran, yes.

    The others, no.

Well, maybe RJ in some mythical head to head scenario.

I never really liked him, but I rank him relatively high based on his utter dominance for a number of years, the fact that he would fight anyone, incredible talent, and longevity. I would also argue that he would still be very successful in his early years/weights against the toughest opposition.

If I banged out an all-time great list right now, Duran is the only one who would definitely be on it. I might have Holyfield around 9 or 10, but more likely around 12-15.

he aint my favorite but you cant doubt he's all time top 20. only man since fitzsimmons to win titles middle to heavy, undefeated other than dq through 90's, beat prime toney and an emerging hopkins, amateur silver at olympics robbed of gold. how are these not considerations of a top 20 fighter. ali lost robinson lost, most have lost all be it not a devestationalyy as jones

you guys are saying no to Julio Cesar Chavez? Do you know boxing? He is the greatest mexican boxer of all time with a record of 107-6-2 with 86 KO's. He deserves a spot before anyone on that list. Not saying they're not great fighters but, come on guys, Julio Cesar Chavez??? Clearly better than anyone on the list provided.

    Good list.

If I had to remove 2 then Jones & Hearns would be removed.

    :thumbsup

Only Roberto Duran is in my top 10. Leonard, Whitaker and Jones are in the 10-20 bracket. Chavez and Hearns are 20-30 or maybe 30-40
