Well he's certainly not a big welter. The ultimate legacy fight for Floyd would be to beat GGG at 160.
I'd be very excited to see Kovalev vs Drodz or Lebedev. It would put Kovalev at a massive disadvantage but I'd be crazy excited to see that fight. This thread is not about whether it's fair to Floyd, we know he doesn't need the fight and we know he'd be at a massive weight disadvantage. It's about if you would be excited to see the fight. Floyd wasn't a 154 lber when he fought Oscar but I was sure as he'll excited about that!
He's 38 and he couldn't even make 151 against Canelo. What's the point? It would be a stupid fight. Let's say he wins against GGG. What next, Andre S.O.G Ward? Come on man!
Floyd has done it all in the sport of boxing, he should just walk away now at the twilight of his career. He has NOTHING MORE EVER TO PROVE. He will be 40 real soon and I don't want to see him lose to guys he would have easily bashed up in his prime because his body has given out on him. That would be so sad.
What after GGG? Andre S.O.G Ward? Kovalev/Stevenson/Beterbiev? Drozd/Lebedev/YPH/Huck? Klitschko/Wilder? Come on man, we gotta stop with these stupid fantasy fights man! GGG is a 160 lb fighter, Floyd is a 147 lb fighter. I want to see Floyd fight at 47, there are loads of juicy fights there left to be made.
It's a tremendously risky fight. Even in losing, Floyd's reputation would probably improve — just a hunch. After GGG, nothing. Fin, End, Done.
For the people, it will never be enough, nothing will ever satisfy their hunger. He should just leave now. He'll be 39 if he ever fights him, ffs. He's done everything. Just leave now and walk into the sunset with millions and millions of dollars. He has NOTHING MORE TO PROVE man. His body is already giving out on him. Why should we subject him to these kinds of stupid fights?
No, there are not. He would be heavily favored over anyone at 147 and rightly so. That's not exactly what I would refer to as "juicy".
That's not what I'm saying, man! There is no "point" outside of whether you'd be excited about it or not. I'm just saying, in a vacuum, would I be excited about the fight? And the answer is yes! Floyd's 38 and still the best fighter in the world and I'd be excited to see the best fighter in the world against my favorite active fighter. It's just a hypothetical! You know I put zero onus on Floyd to fight GGG. I'd just be crazy excited if I woke up tomorrow and saw that this had been announced. I'd be excited if GGG fought Kovalev too!
He is a 147 pounder and always has been, since 2005. Why the hell would I want him to fight at 60 at 39 years of age? :huh Why not move him to heavyweight while we're at it? It's literally that dumb.
Yeah well, I've wondered if he really wants to fight again. Can he really get himself up for it again after the "Fight of the Century". He definitely doesn't owe us anything and he can already be argued to be a top-5 ATG, all the way down to top 50 or so. When the dust settles, at least top-20 is going to be a logical placement for him and probably higher. Let's get real, like Mayweather-GGG is ever going to happen. Looks like Froch was full of hot air also. I really wanted that Froch-GGG fight.
