*raises hand* i used to be a big pavlik fan after he knocked out miranda and taylor, but with his plethora of excuses after his loss to hopkins and his lack of commitment to making the best fights in the middleweight division, i've done a compete 180 on him. pavlik needs to fight some real contenders, not some obscure middleweight has-beens and never-was's from the UK and mexico.
I'm really starting to wonder about him. He was so entertaining and was great for the sport. McKart, Zertuche, Miranda, Taylor, he was just cleaning up like a dominant middle champion. Then he faces the legend Hop and seems to have just fell off. So many stories who knows what to believe. But if he wants to keep his fans he needs to get his **** together and make us remember what we loved about him.
The devil makes work for idle thumbs. Pavlik doesn't give interviews or press conferences and doesn't make announcements. Somebody rumors that he was attacked in a bar; from that, somebody rumors that he has drink problems; from that, somebody rumors that he's a manic depressive, alcoholic, blowing up in weight etc. The likelihood is that Pavlik just wanted the summer off; but he needs to set the record straight, and put this speculation to bed. As for you, "Swann", I'm getting tired of repeating myself. There was not a "plethora of excuses" post-B-Hop; the illness report was made by Thomas Hauser and wasn't mentioned by Pavlik post-fight. The only thing Pavlik ever said about the fight was: "It just didn't feel like me in there..." and suddenly he's in denial? The irony is, of course, that Hopkins is one of the worst sports and biggest excuse-makers in the business, and even to this day thinks he got jobbed against Roy merely because he was an ex-con. Even worse is this bull**** about him running away from the best fights in the division. Obviously, Lockett and Rubio are hardly the top of the pile; but they were MANDATORIES. The only fighters Pavlik has chosen to fight since his inception as Middleweight champ are Bernard Hopkins and Paul Williams. In fact, he made a big jump up to 170 to fight the former, and was the one that started and finished negotiations as regards the latter. If it weren't for him, the Williams fight never would have even got off the ground. If that's your idea of evading competition, I think you need to see someone.
yeah getting pretty aggrivating. after edison miranda he instantly jumped into my top 10 fav fighters, top 5 after taylor beatdowns... but since his attitude and comments about the super mw tourney and his apperent lack of enthusiasm for big fights coupled with his alleged drunkeness... starting to make me wonder
My problem is that he and his team promised a better caliber champ than Taylor was, and have only made themselves look like Taylor's camp with the mess they've been up to since HBO got mad about the Lockett match-up. They go after a old warhorse and Kelly gets a boxing lesson. They come back against Rubio to only show Kelly is getting sloppy. This ain't right. Pavlik needs to get his center back and leave these "bad intentions" in the past.
ha! yeah i didnt think about that. i thought taylor was an AWFUL champion. (did a-1 catch that spinks fight? yuck)... but so far...a whoopin from hopkins, and two ko's against journeymen... cmon kelly, u can do better than that.
wtf is everyone complaining about. I have friends who seen Morales at a bar before what the **** you think they are super heroes? The guy has an infection too bad Williams can fight someone else and Pavlik can fight next year lets move on.
