Grant said he will be back at the post press but i really doubt he will get in the ring again................. Hes done
I tend to think this was sort of a one time thing with him fighting the upper echelon of the division. At 38, and haven't not been that active lately I don't really see him suddenly fighting 3-4 times a year. I seem to think he fights a few more times against non big names and then retires. But honestly, if this is how Grant goes out, good for him, he had an interesting career, that's for sure.
He is too slow. He doesnt use his height effectively. His jab isnt strong enough. his work rate is too low he seems to lack killer instinct (he had moments last night) His balance is horrible...which i think is his biggest problem. In short...not likely does he have much of a future in the HW division.
Agreed, plus he has heavy feet. He is kind of a gatekeeper, but could still do good picking up paydays and meaningfull fights. He may be good enough to beat guys like Oquendo, Rossy and Banks.
In this division, absolutely if he throws the jab more, but he is getting old. Against the Klitschkos? No.
Agreed to this and much of other posters who pointed out some plusses and minuses to Grant. Another problem working against Grant as far as additional decent money fights is that he's probably a little higher risk with little reward for those managing up and comers to want to face
Michael Grant was exhausting to watch last night. He has no future in Boxing just as Adamek has no future in Heavyweight Boxing.
Good post. And I suppose a lot depends on where Adamek goes from here. I think Grant could gain again from his similarities in size to the K bros and pick up fights for good money with fighters wanting to test their skills against someone his size. He could target young emerging fighters trying to make a name for themselves, especially those who have high rankings based only on fighting HWs far below Adameks class.
Grant can beat some of the top ten heavyweights. He did fair, but was too slow for Adamek. He lost every round on my card except the 12th. Adamek as not hurt in the 12th round. The only round Adamek was hurt was at the end of the sixth round, a right hand landed on his chin, but immediately after Adamek was hit by a very hard head butt, which cut him and stunned him for a minute. Grant landed a lot of elbows all night, thus the cuts, check it out. Watch the fight.
Agreed. Grant has no reason at all to work at a pizza hut. Own a couple maybe just for fun, but own...no...he's got money.
Grant is to limited Grant vs Klitckos --- KO for Ukrainians Grant vs Haye----KO HAye or UD vs PEter----KO Peter
