I'm talking like 60+. The other day this friend of my trainer showed up and hit the bags for a while, he's 63? and retired, wants to do boxing for fitness. I say good for him, and he was real nice. Do you guys have any older folks training at your gym?
One of the old boys in my gym is competing. His on a ton of HGH but his strong as an Ox and trains like an animal. We have quite a few old boys like him in our gym. Its good to see them.
Yeah it's pretty cool to see some older dudes have at it. I'm going to ask this guy if he's interested in competing next time.
Competing in bodybuilding or boxing? Wouldn't he be over the 34 age limit as an amateur boxer or is he a pro?
Bodybuilding. We have a couple of old boys who were bodybuilders but now only box but not professionaly. They only do it for there own fitness. One of them has lost over 5 stone!!
There was a 59 year former amateur heavyweight at my old gym who was mad fit and strong as an ox. He could hang with me in sparring (I'm 20), and more than kept up fitness-wise, although his reflexes were not quite the same as they once were. He had a wierd style, very similar to Chris Byrd's with the open palms, which gave me absolute fits. There was also a rather old mental ****** who would be brought in to go spastic on the bag sometimes by his caregiver... He could punch quite hard based on the noise.
That reminds me! When i used to box at the Peacocks there was this crazy old boy. Musthave been late 50`s or 60`s.His gloves were all torn and raggedy along with his clothes but he was a regular at the gym and used to hit the heavybags for hours like a wild caveman. Did raise a laugh but he was always there.
We used to have a woman in her 50s that trained with us. She competed for years doing kick boxing and karate.
I think every proper gym has to have a guy like that... quality stuff. This guy would also stare at himself in the mirror we had going along one side of the gym for shaddow boxing. Hilarious. Do you still train at Peacocks these days?
No havent been there for a while although i do train with the guys at TKO which is just up the road. But my home is Fort Galaxy.Iv been there for the last 4 years on a regular basis.
we've got a few actually a well renowned former bouncer comes trana lose weight hes 70 and says "i dont believe in diet, so ive gotta train fkin ard" i think hes hilarious
We've got one old guy who comes now and then, who I think is 67. Crazy guy, he doesnt live in the city and cant afford to come in that often, but when he does come to training its usually saturday mornings after he's been out til 4 AM dancing at some 70's themed disco place the night before. We've got a woman who looks in her 50's who comes really regularly, and another sporadic old guy who could be 60 or so.
There's a short bloke at my gym who must be well into his 50s at least. Quite fast hands actually, but doesn't get his bodyweight into his punches and doesn't move his feet a lot.
