I actually have a book on boxers training routines and what they used to eat RJJ - Breakfast, scrambled eggs + hash browns then fruit. Dinner - Chicken, pasta and plenty of vegetables. Leon Spinks - breakfast - 4 eggs, toast and fruit juice. Dinner - Steak and vegetables. Ricardo Lopez - Breakfast - Egg whites, a piece of toast, juice, gatorade and some vitamins. Dinner - chicken or fish and salad (red meat only once a week) Donald Curry - Breakfast - Eggs, toast, fruit juice and then water. Dinner - spaghetti, iced tea and salads. Mike Mc Callum - Breakfast - 2 eggs, toast, fruit juice and a cup of tea. Dinner - fish or chicken and salad. My personal favourite from the book Ken Norton - Breakfast - 9 eggs, 7 pieces of bacon, 8 pieces of toast, a bowl of cereal, 2 glasses of orange juice and 2 glasses of milk. Dinner - 2 steaks, some beans and lots of vegetables. In general there doesn't seem to be very much variation between what different boxers eat just normally fresh organic food.

I know I don't think I would be able to move after eating that much food. In his defence though after he had breakfast he did always go for a 3 mile walk. Breakfast was of course also after having been for a morning run 3-8 miles depending on where he was in training.

For historical interest, here's what Jack Dempsey recommended for someone in training who has a day job: 6a.m. - Rise drink a cup of hot tea, beef broth or chicken broth. 6:30 a.m. - Hit the road for running. 7:00 a.m. - Take brief sweat out, shower and have breakfast of fruit juice, eggs, cereal* and milk or tea. 12:30 p.m. - Lunch of lettuce and tomato on toast with possibly 3 slices of bacon and milk. If bacon is not available drink malted milk. 6 p.m. - Cup of tea with lemon and hit gymnasium. 7:45 p.m. - Home and dinner. Half a grapefruit/fruit juice/or cup of broth. Salad with olive oil and lemon juice (no vinegar!) Meat**, anything boiled or broiled. No fried meats. Stews and potatos if you need to gain weight. No Pork, Veal, Lobster, Shrimp, Crabmeat or starchy foods like Spagetti. For desert stewed fruits ect and tea. No pastries! 9 p.m. - Take a 15 minute walk and bed. *I assume he means oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc. **I saw somewhere else where he says that when training he would often eat for dinner two small lamb chops with the fat removed. I always wondered about the "no vinegar!" part.
