i know a lot of you follow the amateur scene a lot....i dont...
but i saw a lot of hope in warren as a guaranteed gold from posters on here.....

i've been seeing since, that the other 3 black guys are being mentioned a lot...i just saw yanez fight and he seems pretty flashy and suited for their scoring system...any hope in him, or estrada :huh :huh

just wanna know why nobody is mentioning them....maybe they aint worth it, but they did make it farter than warren.....

I havn't been able to catch any of the fights, but I do go and check the results when I can. I had high expectations for Warren ,and Estrada ( from East Los ) hey maybe he'll be the next Golden Boy:yep Whats up with this Kid Saddam Ali can't seem to find news on his results.

I honestly think most people just automatically assume that their styles will be better suited for the pros so they don't receive much consideration. Just my two cents.

For reals bro ive been mentioning Yanez for a while and everyone just ignores me. Ive seen him live and hes pretty good. The guy is legit he actually lost to this Chinese guy whos supposed to be a great, but barely lost. Yanez is legit hope he turns pro after the Olympics.

Almost all the fights are on CNBC, called by Bob Papa and Atlas, with the embarassing Jim Gray doing sideline. If you don't have cable then the NBC Olympics website has them too.

Sadam Ali was dominated 20-5. He might be a decent pro but his style wasn't effective here.

I believe Estrada won his first fight, while Yanez outpointed a game but unheralded Spaniard in a shootout. Molina (from Commerce, CA I think) was having health problems and was KOed with a body shot. As far as medal contention, Yanez has an outside shot at bronze, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I saw a Mexican Olympian in a lower weight class but he lost in the first round. Mexico, like the Philippines, struggles in amateurs because most of their best fighters need to feed their families, so they turn pro early.
