You can make a case Campillo has wins against the best 175 pound champions. He has definitely done enough to warrant a fight with Dawson.
+1. Any fight with Campillo against a world-class opponent works for me. He deserves a chance against the new boss @LHW
Yep. - and soon, before he gets too old. after that masterclass against Cloud, Campillo deserves any fight he wants.
Campillo deserves the payday, though Dawson is probably a boring loss. He doesn't have the technical advantage that he enjoyed against Cloud vs Dawson, and athletically Dawson is much better.
I agree. . From a personal standpoint, he deserves the shot, and I definitely would support the fight. . . But at the same time, the stylistic mesh wouldn't be the best. . . I'd like to see a rematch between Campillo, and Cloud. Or Campillo/Kessler. I think Dawson and Pascal need to fight as soon as possible to determine who really is king now that Hopkins is out the picture. If Pascal beats CLoud on August 11th, which I think he will, then you could make an argument he still deserves to be king at 175 since he beat Dawson. . . This content is protected
Campillo has attractive match ups with all of the top ranked guys at 175, literally all of them: Dawson, Cloud II, Shumenov III, Erdei, Cleverly, even Murat III. I honestly think light heavyweight is the best division in the sport.
I don't think any of those guys would be that eager to face Campillo, unfortunately. . . Campillo is in the worst possible position as a boxer. . He's world class, and doesn't have a big name/doesn't draw. . . He's literally about the LEAST attractive opponent for a promotor to match his guy up against. . . He just proved that against Cloud once again (after beating Shumenov twice). . . But I'm HOPING that Showtime will force the issue with a lot of the guys. . Say "well, if you want a date on our network, you gotta fight Campillo". . . I agree 100% about light heavy being the best division in boxing right now. . Don't forget to add Kessler, and Sillakh to the list! I still think Sillakh will make it to a title shot, at least. . . Then you got the possibility of Ward, and maybe even Froch, and Bute coming up soon as well. Defiitely the deepest division!
True true. I've heard by many, despite unfortunately not having seen it myself, that for their first myself Shumenov got robbed of near equal proportions to Campillo get robbed in the second... You've got to give up on Sillakh. He will be nothing more than a worthy title defense from one of the titlists. No way he stands up to Cloud, Campillo, Shu, or any of the top 10, and not even close. He is 27. I doubt it turns around, but I could be wrong. In today's world, he probably has a good chance to become a titlist by virtue of a vacancy, but I would be shocked if he ever beats 3 top 10 ranked guys in his career.
I thought Campillo won both fights, the second was a much worse decision than the first. . . MAYBE the first fight you could say it wasn't a "robbery", but just a very bad decision. . The second fight he was robbed silly. . . The second fight was basically the same as the first, but since Campillo already had Shumenov "decoded", it was much clearer. . . Lol, those who said that must be some diehard Shumenov fans. . . You should check it out, it's an awesome mesh of styles, and a beautiful display of surgical precision by Campillo. . .
