Haven't had a chance to read-up on whether there any realistic Irish medal hopes in the Olympics (boxing, obviously), can anybody educate this plastic?

Taylor - Should medal, would be dissapointing if it wasnt gold.

Between the mens team I would say we will pick up 2 medals. Hopefully 1 is a gold.

Honestly everyone of them has a chance of getting a medal. Taylor will most likely get gold and I Michael Conlon is the darkhorse.

Not as good as last time.

Egan and Sutherland not there, joe ward got jobbed in Turkey.

Barnes the bronze medal is back though.

Nevin and O'Neill probably the best hopes, they are at 12/1.

Strange mix this team. A policeman, a teacher, a traveller, a full time amateur and one that didnt even come through the official program (i think Conlon?)

Taylor for the gold, Nevin for a silver, Conlan/Barnes/O'Neill for a bronze. Hard to know what Nolan can do as it's his first major tournie.

Yeah on there day all could medal depending on the draw.

Taylor is a 4 times world champion and best female boxer alive so hopefully she wins the gold!

Conlon only got beat by Selby by a point in the Worlds and beat Yafai by 10 points recently so he has pedigree .

O'Neill is a former European Silver medalist who beat Ogogo 10-1 at the Euros .

Nolan has come through the best weight division in Ireland to Qualify by winning the Qualifying tourny.

Barnes is a Euro and Commonwealth Gold medallist and Beijing Olympic Bronze medallist .

Nevin is a 2 time World Bronze medallist who only got beat on countback to Campbell at the worlds and is a former Olympian .

All are world class on there day and could medal its just a pity Joe Ward got robbed in Turkey as he would of been our favourite hope.

Paddy Barnes not being seeded is disappointing. Hopefully he will get luck with the draw.

Thanks lads. I knew about Taylor (and Barnes), but I'll keep an eye-out for the rest.
