I sure am a Dempsey fan and that's the best tribute video to him i've seen. :good Thanks for making it.
Gotta love Jack Dempsey, wish there was more footage of him though in his prime, thats the Dempsey I wanna see, watching him destroy Willard for the 100000th time and sparring Big Bill for the 5000th time is fun but i wish there was more...
Thanks haha and I didn't expect such an active replies here, nice... Rocky Marciano? he's a fierce gladiator! I don't detest anything about him at all since he is also actually my second favorite boxer along with Ali coming in second too... thats right I got 2 second favorite boxer its weird I know. Oh snap lol... I think its still a fortune though that some of Jack footage was saved enough for people to know how he fought even other great boxers during his time had not even a single fight footage on them... like Harry Greb he's the guy right now that I really wanted to see a footage on him but there wasn't any which sucks :fire
You are certainly entitled to you own opinion and I defend your right to express it - However omitting Jack from you top 10 says a lot more about you than Dempsey... In a 1962 Ring magazine poll of 40 boxing experts Dempsey was named the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Yeah...I agree with you. In fact, I don't take anyone's top 10 all-time heavyweight list seriously if Jack Dempsey's name isn't on it.
So where is Harry Wills then? He beat better opposition than Jack Dempsey in the same era, and was the # 1 man for 7 straight years. Does he rank in your top 10? Dempsey might be the only ATG heavyweight champion to duck his 2 best contenders. Do we truly know how good he is if he did not beat the best? Here is my top 10 Joe Louis Muhammad Ali Sonny Liston Larry Holmes Rocky Marciano Lennox Lewis Mike Tyson George Foreman Jack Johnson Joe Frazier I think all 10 of these guys have strong cases for being rated over Dempsey
Langford should be rated ahead of Johnson then, since he beat better opposition during Johnsons reign, while Johnson was beating up old men (jeffries), middleweights (ketchel) or screwing women.
I think his 2 best contender was a 2 match from Gene Tunney. Tunney was suppose to fight Wills for the title against Jack but he refuse it, Jack was ready for Wills, since the contract was signed but even Jack handlers like Tunney refuse against it too. Well even with 2 decision lost to Tunney, yes some of us do know how good he is or atleast got a clue how great he was.
