    Some questions..

    - How big is boxing there, bigger than K1, MMA now?
    - Do they follow the higher weight classes much?

Takahiro Onaga would be the best person to ask I suspect, though I know it's big over there and it's on free TV which helps. As far as the higher weights they get some attention but not as much as they do in the west

    Konnichi wa! :hi:

The hallmark of the Japanese boxing scene is high-quality technique, as mentioned (a product of a strong coaching tradition), but also that indomitable fighting spirit (a product of the national culture embedding itself ubiquitously in every walk of life, including - and especially - sport).

It makes for quite a formidable and exciting combination - guys with highly developed technical skills who also have that sort of kamikaze disregard for their own well-being if they sense they're on the brink of victory (or, for that matter, defeat). Hasegawa is a perfect example of that. He could be an excellent boxer-puncher, but in his spectacular losses his bravery got him destroyed in memorable fashion, making him absolutely must-watch for a time.

Oh - whoops. You might be correct, it might have been me that misread it.

Confusingly worded, could be taken either way.

Not a massive fan really, I like a couple of their boxers, namely Uchiyama and Murata. I used to like Nishioka as well.

MMA and boxing both big, both make paper headline and stuff. I boxing fan so to me boxing bigger.

We get Klitschko fight and Wilder get name in paper recently with compare to Tyson. Mostly domestic fighter get attention but boxing fan here care about boxing and good boxer is good no matter size. If we had good heavyweight we have more interest in division, at the moment we not got good one.

I love anime/manga, ironically not the boxing one (Hajime No Ippo I think it is called), it's awful.
