Is there a LHW, who campaigned mostly at that weight that you'd pick to beat Jack Johnson prime for prime?

Fight is scheduled for 15 rounds.

Maybe Spinks because you used the word mostly. John Conteh fought as a heavy early in his career but was awful at that weight, but Johnson may have been small enough for Conteh`s lead hand to bother him, I don`t even know if his reach was longer, that could be key. I don`t know if I can include Moore because he had more heavyweight fights than Spinks, I do feel he would have done as well as he did vs Mrciano anyway and his power would have been a thread judging by how a middleweight like Ketchel droppped Johnson. I think Conn would have a great chance.

    No.

Ezzard Charles would have a shot.

Like so much it depends on the era they are fighting in, Johnson was the ringmaster in his era, none of the namby pamby 12 rounds nonsense.

Archie Moore, as long as it's a 15 rounder or less. Dwight Qawi, Michael Spinks, and Bob Foster beat him, actually Foster ko's Johnson.

Charles, Moore, and Spinks are the only possibilities.

No offense my good sir, but what do you see in Foster's actual heavyweight excursions that suggests to you he could beat Johnson? Do you consider old Jack that much more featherfisted and/or unskilled than Ali and Frazier?

I'm afraid I see Johnson moving in, tying him up, and absolutely shredding him with infighting. My gut says Bob is just too lanky to survive there.

    Roy Jones, Jr.

    Surely to outmodern him.

I'm assuming the fight is at LHW, not HW. Isn't that the question?

Ahh, ok. But did Johnson ever fight that low except very early in his career? (Boxrec won't load the page for me right now.)

Charles or Spinks - both would have a shot but only because they had success at heavyweight.

Moore and Foster both failed at the highest level at heavyweight so neither of them.

    Tunney, maybe, if he qualifies...

Spinks, Moore, Charles, Conn, Moorer, Qawi. James Toney didn't really win any major titles at light heavy but I could see him winning. I could also see BHOP finding a way.

Do you guys have any concept of how great Johnson was? There may be no heavyweight that could beat him in his prime.
