I love the guy and was glad when I saw that he would be on the undercard for the JMM/Pac fight. Did anyone see him for the first time and become a fan instantly :hey ? I think he's a future star
I would like to see Barthelemy/Mares. That would be one helluva boxing clinic to watch. Of course it will never happen (at least not for a few years anyways)
ya know one of the biggist reasons that I watch ALL the fights on aPV card(unlike most of my family) is so I can see if there are any really good younger fighters I dont yet know. Mares is a REALLY good young fighter and I will be a fan from here on
Mares was very good but Gabi was way out of shape and his weight gain pre fight was just plain dumb! He deserved to get knocked out!
New? No. I wouldn't even say fan either...but he's been on my radar for a while. He's netted passing grades every time I've seen him but I'm still not ready to hang the "special" tag on him. Gabi was prepped, cooked, plated, and garnished for him.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Mares is good. But I still have to see a bit more of him. But if he keeps this up, a fight with Mbuza might be down the line.
****, I'd never even thought about Mares-Mabuza...that could be sick! :good At the moment, I'd have to go with my boy Silence until I see something to convince me otherwise.
:good I would've said Penalosa. But Gerry's got only about a year or two left. Mbuza will stay much longer. Who knows?
With Rafa out of the picture, SM owns that division as far as I'm concerned (a perfect mirror of Kessler's deal at 168..). Unification, if he sets his mind to it and the promoters can set the gears in motion, is only a matter of time.
I'm glad he took care of business versus Gabi - it showed a killer instinct I hadn't seen in him before. That said, Gabi was fighting two weight classes above his natural weight, and seemed out of shape. I also wouldn't be too surprised if his jaw is just cracked at this point (he'd never been knocked down before fighting Darchinyan, but the way he was knocked out can't help his chin too much). I'm higher on him than I was before the fight, but I wasn't all that high on him before.
