Any news on Frampton's next fight?

He will likely fight in the UK or Ireland next. I think everyone realises now he made a mistake going to Texas in summer.

The reason he found it tough to shed weight was because training in the heat in Texas required a lot of hydration, which meant he found it tougher to shift weight. If he fights in the UK or Ireland next, he should be able to fight at 122lbs at least once more.

Eddie Hearn is talking about a Donaire fight for Quigg in November. That could just be a negotiating tactic though to put pressure on Frampton to fight.

 

Frampton spoke to Kugan in an IFL interview on the eve of his fight and he was raving about how the heat in Texas was making it EASIER for him to drop weight....

 

All pre fight bravado.

He's since been on Irish radio and admitted that between himself and the rest of the guys in his team, they ****ed up in their final stages of preparation for the fight in Texas.

Said he never factored in the heat, humidity, change of location, being out of his comfort zone, and even admitted he over looked the opponent.

He was very candid and frank, which was a breath of fresh air really.

I think Carl is far too intelligent to make the same mistakes again.

 

Ok so it's not an excuse for the bad start. Sure. You have to be pretty damn idiotic to fail to realise that in Texas the climate is a lot different to the UK. Shane McGuigan knows his stuff when it comes to conditioning, it's a **** poor excuse.

I'm a Frampton fan btw.

there was talk of having a home and away leg against quigg, the Frampton home leg will presumably take place next summer in Belfast in outdoor arena?

Fighting donaire in USA may be a good idea if he wants to build his name and profile out there.

 

One issue with that, as Eddie Hearn alluded to, is there aren't any really big arenas (indoor or outdoor) in N Ireland. The Odyssey arena holds 9000 or so for boxing. The Titanic quarter had a maximum capacity for 16000. So having a venue that could accommodate even 20,000 people will be tough.

That's true and I've also heard he doesn't want to fight in the summer months as heat and humidity makes him struggle with the weight so it's September to April only

 

I thought Gonzalez was a good win. He had decent power a good chin was tall. It was away from home in horrible temperature as well. A lot of mentally weaker fighters could have crumbled. Especially after the first round. He wasn't happy with his performance. He kept unbeaten and has that experience. How would quigg do in Texas against that guy. He might win but it's a lot harder than in Manchester.
