As Carl has admitted preparing badly, what odds would you give on a change in the training regime or a Gerry Storey return?

I'm guessing the only change for the next fight will be Shane ordered to wear tracky bottoms whilst the other McGuigans will have treated themselves to more expensive suits.

Face facts.

Quigg ruined Carls career highlight with the first clean shot he landed.

Most people like to deal with the here and now, and not what happened years ago.

Quigg is proving himself to be a World Class operator, with very heavy hands. He said he'd stop Martinez, and thats exactly what he did.

Frampton, whilst a very capable fighter, decided to try and talk his way out of why he had such a hard nights work against an absolute nobody.

After the Cruz farce, does anybody really believe that the Mcguigans would make the same sort of mistake again with regards to fighting in the heat ?

 

The one outstanding question about Frampton was - "How would he cope with adversity?"
Passed that test with flying colours.
More sure than ever he beats Quigg now!

 

If they go back and fight in the heat they will prepare even better than the last time its all about experience. They should of been doing a training camp out there for about 6 to 8 weeks in that heat. The week before the fight you see Carl and his team out watching the Connor McGregor fight too and having a good time. Would they do that again 7 days before a fight I doubt it. I think with Carl he has it all can box on the back foot and can bang too and when in troble well he can find a way of winning the fight. I think whoever they fight next be it in Belfast or the US or were ever Carl will put on a show for all to prove the last fight was a blip in the past.

Perhaps the first-round fright was the best thing that could have happened to Carl. While he IS disciplined and hard-working, he is not a robot and indeed they did let their standards slip for Gonzalez.

 

Try doing some research on Carls mentor, he knows everything there is to know about being ill prepared for fighting in the desert.

Not a chance that they would have allowed the golden goose to suffer the same fate.

Carls found his level, and Quigg has shown how limited Carls biggest win was.

If i was Quigg i'd start looking for a real challenge, and leave Carl and his team to pick through the s****s for paydays.

How many times does it have to be shown that it doesn't work like that, just because someone beats someone else quicker.

It's the same when people say, X beat Y and Y beat Z, so X will beat Z!

Just look at the Rose vs Jones second fight, majority jumping on the Jones bandwagon saying easy money etc, rather than looking at how the first fight actually finished.

I like Quigg but it doesn't change my view that he hasn't been as impressive as Frampton overall. I just think he will really struggle to get to Frampton, with Framptons movement and speed. Quigg is good when he is in charge, but I don't think he is the quickest and he really is not good at all on Backfoot.

You see it all the time, a fighter has an impressive win compared to his rival and everyone thinks he's now some monster puncher, or he's a beast etc.

Quigg's last fight doesn't tell us much, he was getting tagged easily in the first round and he landed one good shot in the second, that became the shot that would ultimately set the ball rolling to end the fight.

It's very similar to how Rose vs Jones first fight played out.

If he had battered Martinez for the majority of the fight, without taking much in return I would of been more impressed and I'd give him more chance vs Frampton, as it is I just don't see him coping well when he comes up against frampton who has speed, moves well and hits hard.

I'm not saying he can't win, but the overeaction is incredible considering Frampton had one 'bad' performance - one in which he basically won 10 or 11 of the 12 rounds. If you consider that bad your just not very good at measuring a fighter.

 

I'm the last person on this board to try and defend the common opponent theory, but lets look at the facts...

Framptons best wins and only noteworthy wins are against Martinez, thats the same Martinez that Quigg stopped in four minutes, the same Martinez that Munroe beat twice, the same Munroe that Quigg beat twice yada yada yada.

Framptons best win is Martinez, if i'm honets, besides bulling forward, having a decent engine and pop, and having a reasonably stout chin, Martinez ain't all that, and Quigg showed that clearly.

Quigg was awful that night, yet he dismantled Martinez with one clean shot.

Frampton had 21 hard rounds against Martinez, and to his credit he managed to do the business, but Martinez was tailor made for him, does anybody really think that Quigg will just march forward flailing his arms and hanging his chin out ?

What will Frampton do if he has to go looking for Quigg ?

How will Frampton react when he gets tagged ?

Frampton was hit numerous times by Martinez, and knew he had, he was also dropped twice by a nobody in his last outing.

Make no bones about it, Quigg is more than worthy, and he will find the target against Frampton.

I'm a pretty level headed poster, so no overeaction on my part.

I've always said Quigg is World Class, and that Frampton and the circus aroun him were overlooking him.

I think Frampton should have taken the big offer before the questionable performance.

As far as i'm concerend his stock has fallen.

End of the day they are all pretenders, Rigo would school all of them, and none of them have much to offer except the hope of landing a big shot.

 

People latching onto one punch as evidence of Quigg prowess are overreacting and clutching at straws. Lets see Quigg reproduce that punch a few times before we get too excited.....lets see if it was a fluke...a "Hail Mary"...whereas we saw Carl reproduce excellent form round after round.That for me trumps the probably unreproduceable Quigg one shot ko.

 

Hahaha. Come on every fighter over look some fighters at stages it happens all the time. To say that Quigg would look for a real challenge instead of fighting Carl is madness. Frampton fight makes more sense. Lets just see who they both end up fighting in there next fights. I think Carl has the mandatory to fight with Shingo Wake so that might well happen first or if they can get the Santa Cruz fight sorted out in the US it might well be a proper Unification fight for 2 proper World Titles.

 

Santa Cruz or Mares would annihilate Frampton - I would be astonished if Mcguigan allowed that fight to happen next.
