I wouldn't bother trying to get a reasonable conversation about Degale out of taylor. The guy absolutely hates Degale and is very transparent with his "im completely unbiased" routine

I think after losing to Groves and struggling against Wilcewski he's realized he's nowhere near "one of the best super middles in the world" which he claimed after beating Paul Smith, he must have been speechless when he watched Groves take Smith out in the 2nd round.

That was one sweet hook from Groves!

Smith's legs were spasming when he was on his knee!

    Must of been inch perfect.

I thought he was fighting some Spanish bum on the Groves/Anderson card.

21st April in Denmark apparently against Sanavia according to the EBU website.

Strange!! Unless its to drum up interest in Kessler and Him as Kessler fights Stieglitz the week before, perhaps the bill could not afford both of them so James gets the week after, all hyperthetical but who knows?

I'm kind of feeling that way with Dereck Chisora. I don't know why that is. Something in me that ALWAYS wants to root for and support someone being vilified or in a tough spot.

I don't, he's an arrogant **** and deserves all the stick he gets, the way he acted in the build up to the Groves fight was pathetic, him and earthworm Jim can slope back off to the ****ing hills never to be seen again, as far as Im concerned.

Have you seen that programme that boxnation made called mayhem in munich? they follow dereck from wednesday til the brawl. Its very good and shows dereck as this really likeable guy on the wednesday and thursday he's joking around throwing snowballs and playing with the crowd at the public workouts (he even taps fists with vitali). He totally changes on the friday and saturday and becomes the ******* that the general public view him as now. I'd like to believe that the dereck on wednesday and thursday is the real one because I'd root for that dereck in every fight not the other one

Sadly thats just the british way of doing it now, loads kick our boys in the balls before they get a chance, its a rear guard reaction to the fear of the American hype train.

Got too agree there i was for Groves winning the fight with Degale, the prob with arrogance is it blinds and so a boxer who loses and them blames others will not learn constructively due to his arrogance . though as you also put i was impressed with Degale in the euro fight.

To be fair to DeGale when he signed that lucrative deal he was promised . He is not going to sign a contract for less money, that just doesn't make sense.

  13. I suppose there must have been some discussions as to how many fights he'd be having throughout the contract term.

Obviously the money talks, and losing Khan wasn't forseen at the time.

It's a joke that lads get European title money for 4x3's just because they were half decent at fencing.... no wonder people want them beaten to give their egos a bit of a dent.

You may not like James Degale as a person but he has really been facing some good fighters early on in his career. One loss should never make or break a fighter so early on. The problem I see with Degale is that he hasn't formed his own identity of whether he's a counter-puncher or come forward fighter, he could do both but instead he opts to be more of a boxer puncher which given his lack of power doesn't suit him.

As for his fight with Groves, what we all want to see from Degale is him giving Groves his props for winning, you can behave how you want before a fight but being courteous in defeat is a quality that is admired, whilst sour grapes and complaining is not. (Unless you were on the end of a Chisora/Campillo like robbery)

The best thing for Degale to do is STAY active, take the fights as often as you can, they don't need to be against the best fighters, he won't be ready for the likes of Kessler, Froch, Bute etc for a long time, but take on the likes of Nikola Sjekloca, John Paul Mendy etc. Then maybe a showdown with Brian Mcgee would be a good fight.

When they annoucned the singing ****** said the contract listed a minimum of 6 fighters per year and a max of 8 for the first 2 years. I imagine once he gets to title level it changes but DeGale will have a guarentee for the year which he probably hasn't recieved.

He is young enough and talanted enough to get his career back on track. but i wonder if he is smart enough.
