Injury permitting, age shouldn't be a barrier to you turning pro - Gamboa only made his pro debut within the last 12 months and he will also be 27 this year!

Really hope things work out for you.

Not people lying on here, in general when it comes to fights, or starting fights people either exagerate or chat complete ****. A perfect example is the story that this thread started on, was probs some knob head chav from manchester going around saying he KO junior witter to impress hatton.

you should take any story of a boxer involved in fights otuside the ring with a pinch of salt, i certianly do. just like I take storys of guys getting KO in sparring with a pinch of salt.

good luck with the injury, im sure you have done research on the web already, if not defo do you can find alot of good stuff.

Still doing a bit but not really feeling that compelled for hard graft since my injury... I'm weighing up a few ideas at the mo' just feel a bit sick of boxing right now so going to perhaps look at other similer things.

    No no no no.

If you look at actual incidents where a civilian has got into a fight with a boxer as oposed to urban myths, you will see that whatever the weight diference, provided the boxer is under 80, it is short bloody and one sided in favour of the boxer.

In my 6 years on the door I would say that 99.9% of street hardmen cannot fight with any degree of technique or real power they are useless- but there is the odd exception.... It was comical watching them walking into our club with invisible carpets under each arm giving us the hard man nod... We just knew they were going to kick off and when they did -oh dear they were nearly always rubbish.

That's true - i'm sure...But as per the original post on this 'sub-thread' - a bantam weight would get flattened imo by a lump with the criteria being ' all things being equal'...Boxers can dig and move but they are not Marvel comic characters!
There are exceptions to every rule - but i think the average bloke of proven 'hardness' ( a hardman - not a pissed up bloke with muscles and tattoos)- who has a good 10 stone weight advantage will batter the smaller bloke boxer or not.

Its a pointless argument as there are too many intangibles. Street fights even 'straighteners' rarely last beyond the initial contact and if they do they usually end up on the floor. Its usually who gets there first. 9 times out of 10 a decent boxer should be able to be fast and sharp enough to pick a big punch for the first contact- If it ends up on the floor he's ****ed unless he can use his agility, concentration and fitness to maneuver into a more dominant position. All in all its a stupid debate as it really depends on the practitioners involved.
