id love to see david tua come back and win a world title but im sure his reflexs, work rate and passion is not the same as it was ten years ago.

how would a prime david tua do today?

he'd beat one of the titleists. I'm thinking chagaev most likely, but klitschko's chin and peter standing in front of him he'd have a good shot with all three.

he would be badly outhustled and outworked to a clear unanimous decision by any of today's titleholders

Oh god, Tua would destroy Peter in his prime.

Lewis' chin is very underrated, he took many good shots from Tua but was unfazed - I think that you are right that a good chin is important, but less so now that Tua has slowed a great deal, good footwork and headmovement have mostly replaced that requirement.

Exactly! There is a video of Lewis getting hit by bombs and barely flinching that I normally post on occasions like this, Tua is on at the beginning:

Prime....he puts Wlad on ***** street and keeps him there.....
The rest would be cannon fodder for a prime Tua

I think a prime Tua beats both Chagaev and Peter. Both Peter and Chagaev are easy to hit and not much taller than Tua. Also, a prime Tua was faster.

Against Wlad i expect the fight to turn out like Tua-Lewis: Wlad fighting a smart fight, taking no risks and jabbing his way to a UD.
However, I'm not saying that Wlad is as good as Lewis (at least not yet, we have to wait for another few years before we can really compare Wlad and Lewis) and the Tua that fought Lewis was already a bit past his prime, so there's also a good chance (maybe 30%) of Tua swarming Wlad, catching him with some good shots and knocking him down or out.

BTW, I want Tua-Oliver McCall to happen this year. That'd be a hell of a war!

I think he could have had quite a bit of success. Tua fought at a measured pace on the outside, which was making Lewis fall asleep at times. If Tua had been in better shape and had been able to follow up on his punches, he could have won a round or two, or even knocked Lewis down.

A prime Tua was fearsome, because he was a swarmer with a huge amount of power. Given Tua's considerable advantage in chin, defensive/offensive skill and power, I think he'd destroy Peter. Chagaev-Tua and Wlad-Tua could go either way; I'd give Tua the edge in the former and Wlad the edge in the latter.

People forget how good Tua was defensively. Even Lewis, Byrd and Rahman had considerable problems finding clean shots to the chin.

    I think so ,too!

Tua-even in his prime-wouldnt be among today's top 10.His firepower was overrated, too. He even had to go the full route with fighters like Hawkins.
EVery dog has its day! Tua had his one when he stormed out of his corner and knocked Ruiz out in the very first round.I loved Tua for that ko.

    thats a big statement,

tua does has the ko over maskaev and im still not convinced that the hw division is better now then it was when tua was the number 1 or 2 ranked hw back in 98' or so.

tua was a monster in his prime, and only lost to three fighters (he arguably should have got the nod of ibeabuchi)

Tua would beat them all. Unless Wlad fought absolutely scared shitless, ala Ibragimov

What I liked was how he covered up. Sure, he was vulnerable to the right to the body, but who would be insane enough to work that punch against Tua?

rofl! u should stick to supporting haye at hw, he's gonna need it

tua is done! u know y. cause he refuses to fight a live body. it doenst take a genius to figure out his confidence is gone and when a fighter loses that, it's time to hang it up. could have fought brewster and aerroloa already but turned them down yet he'll face wlad :yep

this "scared" bs is lame too. tell that to his 44ko victims
