All of these were coming into the ring at 170lbs+ except Hopkins apparently which is shocking, I always thought he was a big 160lbder anywayi. Comparison to the rest, Hagler would be the same Ed he weighed in like 158lbs or 159lbs, people may say it wouldn’t make a difference, but it 100% does when someone is like 15lbs heavier and knows how to implement the weight advantage it makes a huge difference, Hagler would be a good sized welterweight today
Anyway HBO could be lying about Hopkins weight on the night so he doesn’t look like a weight bully so they just said he was 168lbs for anyone who would like to see it is his 3rd fight with Robert Allen where it says that somewhere at the start on tale of the tape, I suspect they are lying though

The only one I think could do it (best for best, fair reffing and Judging) is Roy.

And not only could, but would.

Of course they would have a chance, but it doesn’t mean I would make them the favorite over prime Hagler. They were all terrific fighters and would be very live underdogs.

I give Roy the best chance. I’m not sure how that plays out. He was kind of green at 160, but you could say his prime began in his last fight at 160, against Tate. Roy was obviously a super gifted fighter, bigger at 160 than what Hagler was used to facing, but also relatively inexperienced at the time against southpaws compared to later. At 175, he was facing lefties in every other fight.

    I'd hate it if H
I've got only Jones actually standing a chance of winning against Prime Marv. But even then as good as he was, he's facing a man who was a killer at middle. He'd find a way to beat the rest imo. Mike McCallum actually could turn out a real dark horse and give Hagler a very uncomfortable night. Maybe even to the point where he loses but is seen as the winner?!
Who knows with the guys I listed, they all brought something different to the game.

McCallum and Nunn were pros when Hagler was still active. McCallum was already a champion at Jr. Middle, actually. I don’t think any of these guys benefited from the kind of weight bullying you’re making out. Jones had only one defense at Middle before moving up specifically to avoid that weight cut. He had already outgrown the division.

I don’t think that whole movement really became accepted as the way of doing things until probably the turn of the 21st century or thereabouts. It was a very gradual process.

I think Toney has the best shot.
