The kind you do on a Bike, not the naughty kind!

Any of you substituted it for your Running or just brought it into your routine anyway?

What's the weekly amount you do? Has it helped improve your fitness much?

I cycle to work everyday..prob about 4/5 mile each way.

I go for it a bit on the way home as I sweat too much to do it on the way in...my lower back isnt brilliant so it's better for me than running. I think you can do pretty much the same type of stuff on a bike, you might just do the cycling for a bit longer...you can do the equivelant of sprints, hills everything and easier on the joints.

But harder on the prostate

Cycling is ok, you just have to spend more than 5 times the amount as you do running to get the benefit out of it. Don't forget your just sitting on your arse for 5 miles and your not burning as much fat off certain areas as you would running 5 miles, but again cycling is better than nothing i suppose.

If you have got problems with your joints then you should try running on the treadmill as it's 500% less impact than road running.

True, lol....but if you get you're bum out the saddle you're replicating the running / sprinting more.

It's my preferred mode of transport aswell though as it's quicker, healthier and environmently friendly! :good

Are you referring to the myth known as spot reduction?

rampant, if you're cycling that much per day you better make sure you're doing a hell of a lot of lower body stretching, particularly your hamstrings.

if your going up a lot of hills i think its brilliant for lower body strength. I live in north wales so will do 45 min an hour or so up and down hills. so suppose it is a bit longer than run, and i have no scientific **** to back this up, just i feel good of it. Doesn't sergio martinez do a lot of cycling?
