I'm from the UK but always really liked Mike McCallum. Watched him box Herol Graham when I was a young teenager but didn't get to see the Michael Watson fight, that always bothered me and still bothers me now
Sure. I never knew much about Pacman until he destroyed Hatton, since than he was my fave fighter. Same happened recently when one of my faves Cleverly got annihilated by Krusher. Kovalev's my fave boxer at the minute. My allegiance will be going back to the UK though if Brook somehow beats GGG. Brook is my 2nd fave fighter to watch. I just like his all action style and those counters are beautiful and crisp.
You're a long time fan too then mate. I was a Eubank fan back then Couldnt wait to see his kid face GGG.... Eubank then pulls a last minute most unique triple G duck we'll ever see - triple the ticket prices
Don't think my favourite fighter has ever been from my homeland tbh, at the moment my favourite it Naoya Inoue and I'm from the UK
People are always using nationality to explain hype for a fighter, and I've never bought it. I'm from the US and my favorite fighter is Tyson Fury.
Can you explain why you favor one fighter over every other fighter in the history of this dirty sport over another? Some of them are completely underappreciated, bled for it, and brain damaged from it.
I never got nationalistic support in any sport to be honest, I tend to like people/teams for particular attributes and style etc. Same reason I dislike the English football team (a lot of hype but repeated under-performance) but love watching attacking teams like Chile, I don't mind the English cricket team though as they all tend to be pretty good and play to their ability, I didn't like Andy Murray but he's grown on me over the last few years (when you realise he's got a really dry sense of humour then he's actually quite funny), but Tim Henman always seemed dull as ****...
Chance, circumstances, and personality. I thought Fury could do great things. I was impressed by his rate of progress as he started his professional career. I like that he speaks his mind. I like his aggression and ambition. I hate the fake "quiet, reserved gentleman" personality of Wlad and Joshua.
Im with you BP Nationality has nothing to do with it. If i had a utter ***** or blatant drug cheat like Jones, Floyd, Manny or Ward representing me i would support someone from another country And as a Scot - Djokovic is my man :good
I think he really means that we shouldn't be nationalistic and just like whoever we want And I absolutely love JMM!!! He's the one who got me into boxing! He'll always be at the top of my list as favorite. I really wish he would retire and rest. He's done enough for the sport and is an ATG in my book. By the way, Country: US Favorite fighter: JMM
