Mikey is the only real Mexican out there, dem others juss be set trippin. Every card is stacked against him in this fight, except size of cojones cuz Mikey is obviously packing. Orrrrale, Vato Loco!!!
if weight classes dont matter mikey wins. if it matter as much as i think it does spence wins. but if not mikey is a better boxer.
I agree.. He looks way to big Spence with the wrong style for a size advantage, he wont box him, maybe 2/3 rounds then its crank up time..Theres some pig headedness chasing this fight in the Garcia camp
Not that it matters, but if I was Spence my training camp would be intense pressure, start earlier than usual pressure and if there's one fight in his career that he does it its for this fight. He has imo to stamp the little man out considering the advantages he has, as you know its a massive fight with big interest
im glad you expect the best spence possible, it will put mikeys performance in better perspective after the fight. i hope your feelings dont change when spence starts to look like his timing is off.
I hope my feelings don't effect your feelings after the fight and that both our feelings come out healthy and unhurt !
He's the better, much more accomplished and proven fighter and I believe he has the skills, power and fundamentals to cause the good but hideously overrated by his fanboys Spence (in terms of the comically lofty placement they afford him on the P4P rankings) plenty of problems, but I think the main obstacle he has to overcome, and which will ultimately prove a bridge too far, is being able to withstand what's coming back at him from a 147 pounder. Mikey has only fought at 140 x 2 (and obviously never at 147) and he's only fought above 130 x 5. His 2 fights at 140 were against Lipinets and Broner both of whom are decent punchers at that weight but Spence is a hard hitting 147 pounder and we have no idea how Mikey, who has been dropped x 2 and I saw some footage of one of his other fights on YT a while back in a HL vid of his where he very nearly went down from a left hook that made his legs dip real low, is going to be able to hold a shot from a puncher at 147. And Broner went into his shell against Mikey after tasting his power and refused to let his hands go freely so he didn't really put Mikey's whiskers to test. But Mikey, like Manny who is very similar in terms of height, reach, and build to Mikey, does hit unusually hard for his size and the difference in weight between Mikey and him is nowhere near as much as many believe it to be. In fact, as I've mentioned on here before the difference in weight between Loma and Mikey is more than what the difference between Mikey and Spence is. If Mikey weighs 147.4 at 9:00am the morning of the fight for Easter and Lipinets, and then stuffs his face with pizza for his pre-fight meal, then I think it's a fair to say he was 149-150 in the ring. But Spence is obviously naturally bigger and is cutting a lot of weight to get down to 147 and can easily compete at 154 whereas Mikey couldn't. This content is protected Mikey 149-150 (call it 149 if you want) This content is protected Mikey (and this is the Kangaroo Jack Mikey who has been bulking up at SNAC, not the one who fought at 135 and 140), claims he's 152 right now and Victor Conte says their target weight for the fight is 155. And for the sake of argument let's just say that Spence comes in at 160 for the fight and Mikey comes in what he weighs now (152), that's still only 8lbs and if Spence comes in the same as his last fight it will only be 4lbs whereas the 135-140 Mikey was about 10lbs heavier than Loma who comes in at 138.
Crawford knew what he was getting into when he renewed with Top Rank. That he'd still remain on the other side of the fence, reduced to fighting whoever Bob can scrape from what's left of the non-PBC welterweight universe. Yes it's about the money and all that stuff, but no I can't actually make a mental argument to give him a pass. One can't say Bud resigned for the money and then in the same breath claim he really truly wants to fight Spence, right?
Mikey's been dropped 2X? I thought only once—by Vanilla Gorilla Martinez. Also, Mikey's fought at 140 three times.
Similar but not the same. Garcia was outclassing Salido for most of the fight. KD salido about 4 times too. There was no reason why Mikey should risk worse damage to his nose. Had Mikey been trailing on the cards and he quits then I would be the first to criticize him.
i thought that was a no brainer. the better man had been well established and salido praying for the 7th seal to be broken by him mounting a comeback, is not reason enough for team garcia to risk their franchise on salidos prayers. lets grow the f up.
Yes he was dropped heavily by Walter Estrada Technically he has but the fight you're alluding to, where he weighed in at 138, was against Elio Rojas who is listed as a featherweight on Boxrec and had only fought over 130 twice before and over the lightweight limit once.
