Yep remember Shaka and his numerous wars. The fight against Rigby was special. A true warrior and what he did that night show what boxing is about. He's from my neck of the woods. I'm not sure but i remember someone saying that he was at a amateur event handing out awards a while back. Hope he still in the sport.
remb training with him in belfast he was a late bloomer and a great guy and i ways give me good advice
Sounds quality mate. I remember him going with John Breen who gave his career new lease of life. He loved training in Belfast and it showed.
Isn't he the bloke that beat Karl Taylor years ago? I used to live in the same road as Taylor when I was a kid, loads of people I know went down to watch that fight. Just checked and Taylor is still fighting
Remember him looking brilliant against Paul Burke, Charlie Shepherd and colin Dunne. Would of loved to of seen him in with Billy Schwer. Was at the 1st Rigby fight.****in proper scrap. Wayne punched himself to a standstill.
That was me, we had this conversation a while back, wondering what he was up to now,and I mentioned there was photo of him recently in the amateur section of Boxing News presenting trophies to the boxers. Top fighter was Ayers, my favourite domestic boxer. A real class act outside of the ring too, I had the privilege of meeting him after he had just stopped Pablo Sarmiento in their first fight. Would love to hear what he's doing now, and would like to see him involved in the sport again in some capacity. Would be good to see him as a TV pundit or something.
There's a video of him on youtube losing to Sarmiento in rematch. Hopefully someone out there could upload some of his wins. Fantastic fights.
