Check out everyone's responses - there's certainly a lot more to it than your initial stupid comment suggested - ps on what basis do I only support white fighters??? - I've just been trying to defend Foreman, (apologies if you're not rascist but your initial post on this thread sounded so ignorant and dumb and so instantly blase about one of the best fighters in history that it made sense that you might have had such an agenda - you see I can't understand where anyone comes from that has these pathological hatred's of certain fighters - I respect all fighters (especially top 20 all time heavyweights) and couldn't really put any of them down so flippantly so it occurs to me that a lot of people that do so are generally haters on a personal level for whatever reason

Really?? I don't know anyone who got into double figures unbeaten - at least on-line anyway - is it true that in the states the online response times are quicker giving them an advantage over anyone else playing from anywhere else??? They always seemed impossibly fast?? whenever I played on line i would always get my ass kicked but if I was just playing 2 player against a mate or whatever in the same room I'd always be pretty tough to beat??

I think you need to learn the difference between a 'statement' and a 'question' before you go off on 1 of your paranoid rants.

But yes I was making a point that its about quality not quantity, I don't rate Chavez's or Foreman's record of wins that highly down to the quantity of them, clear hate for the white man right there

Would ROcky be less great if he was 29-0 but he still had all the ranked fighters on his record? To anyone who knows boxing ofcourse not, but to the ignorant perhaps. Was Tyson's 37-0 as good as Marciano's 49-0, well in terms of top10 contenders it was likely on par with it (I havent counted, I'm guessing)

The fact remains that no other fighter has gone 49-0 while holding a lineal title, in any weight class, in 130 years of gloved boxing. It also has to be noted that no other lineal champion retired with an unbeaten and unbtied record throughout the 20th century.

Its not as if 49-0 is not a target that people are conciously trying to break either.

I think you need to learn the meaning of 'paranoid' mate - what's paranoid about knowing someone is making a ridiculously blaze/flippant/taking the p1$$ comment about a fighter??? And then you admitting that you were in your next paragraph??!!:lol::lol:

PS who did Tyson ever beat who compared with the Walcott 1, Ez Charles 1 & 2, Moore that Rocky beat - I'd even say the Louis Rock beat was a better win than the Holmes win for Tyson

pps if you think its 'ignorant' to respect the records of Chavez and Foreman you tell me how many other fighters registered those kind of results - not many - fact is they were very good fighters but you talk about fighters on the whole (seemingly) as tho they are peices of **** - you wouldn't last 60 seconds any of them so do one powerpuffpuncher

I think Darius M. who fought at the same time as Jones went to 46-0 and it was quite a record and some good wins. Jones had a run also but these 2 guys never fought but they both burned out before getting to 49-0 It is not as easy as it sounds especially fighting 10 top 5 guys and defending against the number 1 contender 5 times out of 6. I think If Marciano was black he would be considered a Bad Ass, especially if he shaved his head. For some reason people give him less credit because of his color but if you look at some of the Italian/Americans around that time and before and after you had a rugged bunch of ballsy guys like Lamotta, Basilio, Demarco, Graziano, Maxim, Giardello,Amber's,Canzaneri, Sammy Mandell,Johnny Dundee, Johnny Wilson, among others and others, I really do not think any of these men were ever embarrassed in the ring.

In this great company of tough Italian Americans, Marciano may have been one of the best and lets face it. He fought the best of his time of any color

He fought the number 1 contender 5 times out of 6

He went to 49-0 with 43 KO's and this man started his career rather late.

He ducked no one, White, Black, Italian or green

    Maricano's record against Ring Ranked top 10: 11-0 top 5: 10-0

And its not like Rocky's non ranked opposition were total bums either: Beshore and Savold were just one year removed from top 10 rankings. Ted Lowry was a tough gate keeper who had fought everyone, as was Shkor. Simmons was a tough trial horse and respected sparring partner who would go the distance with Cleveland Williams and NinoValdes. And Vingo was a hot prospect being groomed as a future Championship contender.

But in all fairness Rocky did win the undisputed Championship. held it and retired undefeated. To his credit, he defended against all commers. I personally never heard that Rocky avoided any fighter when he was Champion.

Could it also be possible that no ranked fighters wanted anything to do with Rocky when he was coming up. & he just took these fight to stay sharp? Same could be said for Foreman, Who proved his worth by destroying both Frazier & Norton. An incredible feat as both went tooth and nail with Ali.

You have to watch out on the rankings thing in recent times. Any Don King fighter fighting a don King champion is going to be up there in the rankings. And how was Arum getting some guys rated so high for Ali defenses?

All thanks go to the toughguy Dickie Ryan. He was rumored to be a post prison Tyson opponent for a while & at least he would've had a payday.

So what lineal champion has ever gone 49-0?

What lineal champion has concluded their career unbeaten and untied in the 20th century?
