He was horrible against a guy who was handpicked for him to put out a great performance. Instead he showed a great display of running and throwing the bare minimum amount of punches to win a round. His punches looked weak and slow. His energy was terrible. Look, the guy has obvious talent, but he seems to lack in just about every other department. Like Letterman said "I just cant watch this guy." It's only too bad that he didn't take up dodge ball instead of boxing. I don't mean to sound too harsh because I have respect for his talent, but this guy makes Andre Ward look like an action fighter.
Big rigo fan but he had his opponent lost in their very early, resorting to bullrushing rigo at an attempt to get inside, me and my trainee agreed STOPPAGE for sureeee. NOPE Rigo would not press the action even though his ooponent was frustrated and lost.. He did the exact same thing vs agbeko (agbeko threw 3 punches in one of the middle rounds just as a reference) and rigo just played VERY safe
I like Rigo, but I really wanted him to push the pace in that fight. To be fair, his opponent didn't either.
Still a fan but it was a poor showing. The Agbeko fight didn't get the pulse racing but at least he was landing consistently which he did not seem to be able to do against Francisco, looking for the big left too much without creating any angles. The left uppercut (Rigo has a great one) may have been the weapon for his bull-rushing opponent. Inactivity? Awkward opponent? Just an off night? Perhaps a combination but he really does need to be "explosive next time" just to make the headlines and try to reclaim that portion of a dwindling fan base who washed their hands of him last Saturday.
