Povetkin was due to fight Wladimir last December. After he pulled out due to injury, he barely defeated Estrada in April. I have not heard anything of him ever since. Even his homepage has not updated since May. He just missed the deadline to fight Wladimir (Sep 13th) for the mandatory title fight.

    Any news?

    Barely defeated Estrada?

I thought he clearly beat him.

Povetkin is suffering from a severe case of ball shrinkage. First he thought he can easily take out Wlad, then Povetkin didn't look too hot against Estrada and lost a couple rounds against Chambers.

Anyone remember Povetkin calling out Wlad? I think this was in early 2008 "KLITSCHKO I WANT YOU"

Yes, but he didn't look particularly great in doing so. If Estrada had even a smidgen of power, he very well could have won that fight.

Povtkin has been a real let-down. Good start, then a big mouth and then he simply disappears.

If Povetkin had more power he's be champ by now.

Five months of inactivity in this day and age just isn't that bad. :blood

His record, when you look at how short it is and what names are on it - may be better than that of Solis. Ahunanya in his 7th fight? Donald, Byrd and Chambers in his 13th-15h? Insane. Sykes and Estrada are steps back but they're the types of guys he should be beating at this stage of his professional development.

If he doesn't have anything slated by year's end, then it becomes a concern but right now the inactivity just isn't as bad as it seems. It probably just feels that way because of all the drama over who would be fighting Wlad next, him or Eddie...that feels like forever ago.

Teddy will completely destroy Povetkin's self-esteem.
