Any similarities to these 3 now and then?

So back in the day like 10 years ago we had the treat of having 3 heavy weight champs simultaneously: Lennox Lewis, John Ruiz, and Chris Byrd. You know where this is heading right? Fast forward to now there are striking resemblances to the current 3 heavyweight champs, Lennox Lewis, the kingpin knockout artist is like deontay Wilder. Chris Byrd is like Tyson fury, a defensive cutie with zero punching power. And aj is like Ruiz: holds a lot in the clinch, has a sneaky right hand, and he keeps on winning when everybody disrespect s him. In your opinion, which area had the better hws? The period nowadays, or the period of nostalgia back then?

How would those old heavyweights do against their after versions? Ll vs dw? Cb vs tf? Jr vs aj? And why.

To give my 2 cents, the two differences between Lennox and deontay is that LL was undisputed, while deontay has the highr percentage ko ratio. I'd say both had an equal chance.

I think a mobile fury would box Chris to death on a way to a ud..

Ruiz vs aj: Joshua would keep him at Bay with his long jab and possibly stop/ hurt him in the later rounds. However Ruiz would keep it interesting with all his grappling and roughhouse tactics ( maybe some headbutts, low blows, kidney shots and rabbit punches with a prime stoney in his corner).

You must be trolling. There is very little similarities between these fighters.

Wilder and Lewis: Wilder holds some slight physical advantages (hight, power and hand speed) but the difference in skills between them is ridiculously big

Fury and Byrd: Fury is like 10 inches taller - enought said

Joshua and John Ruiz - AJ is much bigger and hits much harder, Ruiz was absolutely great, I'd even say close to perfect in holding/clinching (on Wlad/Lewis level) while Joshua still dosn't have a clue how to hold his opponent properly without putting himself in danger of being hit.

    I see your point(S).

Lennox Lewis compared to deontay Wilder. Who was able to put em away.
Chris Byrd compared to Tyson fury, Boxers, countering setting traps who is better
AJ compared to John Ruiz: Methodical, uses inside for clinching who does it better

Which era had the better HWs? The period nowadays, or the period of nostalgia back then?
    Nostalgia.
    I'll go Nostalgia!

Back then-when HW's saw that big jump in height ...let's go back in time.. Lets not look back at it...with all thaft Oh Henry wasn't this or Grant was a fraud...we know now, because of HOW they were dispatched and exposed which is different than how it is done today.

    Lennox 6'5 34-1
    Akindwande 6'7 32-0-1
    Riddick Bowe 6'5 31-0
    Michael Grant 6'7 31-0
    Jorge Gonzalez 6'7 23-0

When these guys were undefeated...fans had the same reaction as today- Who can deal with these Giants? And how? Well history wrote how 6'2 average HW's took all these big dudes out.
    1. It is called punch output. Tua didn't give a damn how tall one was. Neither did Holyfield, so they threw punches in bunches.
    2. That in turn takes heart.

Lennox had to contend with dudes who didn't fear his size so he upped his punch rate as seen vs Tua- Lennox landed 200...when today's HW's barely throw 300.
Holy lost to the bigger Bowe with both throwing 1100 combined.
In order to get that today you have to add 2 or 3 fights together be it Wilder, Joshua or Fury. None of these guys are throwing punches harder than Lennox or Tyson or Tua or Ibeabuchi.
So why is the output so friggin low now? What cute skills has Fury displayed that Byrd didn't? Chrys thew 747 punches against Holy, no way can I compare a countering Fury whose biggest fight vs Klitschko was around 370....These HW's can't land 100 in 12 rounds?
    Why?

If Byrd stands up to Ike, both Klitshckko & Tua!? And he wouldn't do the same against Fury? If he didnt fear throwing against those guys he beats Fury IMO on sheer workrate!

Tua's workrate who lost to Byrd and to Lewis... he clocked the bigger Ibeabuchi near 300 times.. comapre today- An Anthony Ruiz punch output is nowhere near that.
Yesteryear's fighters threw more- Fact. Better conditioning as a result. And most important that was the 1st era when it started to become the norm of seeing HW's over 6'3.

Lennox is better than AJ, Fury & Wilder.
Byrd has shown more heart, stamina & workrate than Fury, AJ & Wilder
John Ruiz...not sure. I think he can stink out a win over AJ & Andy Ruiz. Not sure about Fury or Wilder. As The Gypsy is a very good boxer, maybe a great one. Just not as great as Lennox. Not disciplined as Byrd or John Ruiz.
