Yes, I think I did. I just don't recall it too well.

It's possibly he's still fighting like an amateur too much, and not committing power to shots. Or they better hope that is the case because its a big struggle without power.

Either way, if its Dinu or Armannsson I don't care as long as there is some new skilled blood in this sagging division :-(

Yeah, you defintely hit it right there,he is still fighting like an amateur still, anyway I don't see him going places if he doesn't change his style a little. If Armasonn hits with some kind od power he can KO this guy.Guys like Viorel Simion or Ion Ionut Dan(Jojo Dan) are way better or even Eugen Sorin Tanasie

Do you think there is a lot of talented prospects in (or from) Romania then? I've seen Dan a bit, but tell me about these guys? I'm always interested in any European guys :good

I'm sure Tanasie is the one that lost to Ballone which is a bit disappointing but maybe he'll rebuild. Ballone fights Ian Napa which I'll likely watch so I'll be interested to see how he managed to lose this guy.

    Tell me about them anyway...

Yes,actually ther are a lot of good guys in Romania, pro and amateur but there is a difference between GOOD and ELITE or potential to be elite. Most guys are not serious but there are some...
Tanasie is the one who lost to Ballone, never saw the fight,it wasn't transmitted here, only read about it,he did win the EBU-EU title in Spain fromKarim Quibir Lopez going in a underdog, that was a great fight, that one I saw.He looked really bad and probably lost to Torres in july in a tune-up but he trained hard ,took it serious and looked great when it mathered the most. Then I don't know what hapened in Belgium. You see Tanasie is one of the not-serious guys, has many police runnings, beat a couple of guys on the street, walks with knifes on him, broke a guy's tires on his car for cutting a line in a burger stand last year.He is a real character.
Dan is as maybe you have seen based in Montreal,a more ploished fighter, very tall for 140,he is 5'11,started to fight some good guys,he can bang,he can box,he is a good fighter. He is ranked by 3 sanctioning bodies and is in line for a title eliminator next year,he said he would chase Kotelnik and Bradley.
But my fav is Viorel Simion, all out action fighter, gon in there to kill'em,he made a FOTY in Romania in 2006 with Karim Chakim, they were both bleeding like it was a Gatti fight, this guy I really like and he is serious, hardworking and can go places,he will probably fight on the Diaconu vs Branco undercard.

Wow, Tanasie DOES sound like a character  **** man..he sounds like a gypsy :yikes:nono

I remember Simion now. I saw him on that Diaconu undercard I think, and he looked quite decent. The scores were a bit wide, but he looked decent.

I would be very interested to see Dan against Kotelnik. That would be a very good technical fight both have a chance to win. I rate Kotelnik a lot, more than most.

No,Tanasie ain't no gypsy,he is just a regular guy, kinda like a Mayorga character, remember Mayorga was put under ****,Gatti beat a cop sometime ago when he was drunk,no need to say about Tyson,it's just how these people are.Did you see the Ballone fight or highlights or anything?:think Simion yes, fought vs Encarnacion on the Diaconu vs Henry undercard,,didn't look to good, but not too bad,it was the first time he went 12,and yes the scores were a little wide but he won clearly.About Dan,he still has to beat a name,he did KO Delgado, something Malignaggi couldn't do in 2 fights and also Balbi, something Dorin couldn't do in 2 fights but you can make a point they were past their best days,at least Balbi was shot,Delgado maybe wasn't shot but he was past it.Dan will be a titleholder at 140 almost for sure I think, from there it's up to him

Interesting story on Tanasie anyway :rofl

I havn't seen **** of Ballone, like I said I'll be watching him against Napa. I'll be able to gauge him from there, since I know Napa well.

Malignaggi could not KO my gran so I wouldn't analyze much from that. Balbi is not a bad win though, that guy has been around a bit. Beat Vilches by KO I think, who took Hatton 12. He did it quicker than M'baye too. So not bad, but obviously Kotelnik is a huge step up. Kotelnik didn't deserve that loss to M'baye and was very close with Witter, so he's a massive test. Anybody that beats him clearly is the real deal as far as I'm concerned!

Yeah Tanasie makes me laugh too when I see him on tv,he always gets in some kind of trouble:rofl ,altough he is a nice guy if you know him,he's idol he said a while back is Fernando Vargas so you can see where these things come from.Balbi was good, was WBA 135 lb champ, beat and took the title from Lorcy, fought Grigorian, the 2 great fights with Dorin especially the first one, didn't look good with M'Baye but as you say he is a good name to have on you'r resume but I don't know if he ever fought Hatton.Anyway Dan will have to pass a eliminator so it could be anybody good but I think he can do it.They are just some of the guys, the Balbi KO is on youtube. Also another good one and a fav of mine is Constantin Florescu known as Rocky Floriano, nased also in Canada,in Toronto,he also has some fights on youtube, check them out, they are short and entertaining,he is fighting this satuday in Brampton in Canada vs Peter McDonagh, the guy that Micheal Gomez took a dive against altough Floriano ain't gonna have a easy time KOing McDonagh, you can't say anything about Flriano's KO ratio,it is good and only Daniele Petrucci who is a good fighter beat him while he was unprepared

    Found him eventually... http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=077991&cat=boxer

I know McDonagh pretty well and he's a tough durable guy. Very easy to outbox though, seen guys like Lawton and Murray beat him comfortably aside from the Gomez affair. He's the typical tough journeyman that takes his paydays wherever he can get them, but he has some pride in there too

Yep the KO ratio is good! Doesn't really matter to lose a fight so early, look at Hopkins first fight. Petrucci is a very good operator anyway, one of the best in Europe at that weight class. I kinda wonder why they matched those two prospects so early. I'm sure he learnt from that.

So do you think he can KO McDonagh?Cuz Rocky if you have watched on youtube ain't got ''Mayweather skills'' to say the least. Why did they put him against Petrucci?Look at the layoff from the debut to Petrucci, and that's your answer,he was just starting boxing again, don't know why he took such a long layoff.I saw McDonagh's fight with Murray on youtube(well 10 minutes highlights) he is very durable. There are plebty of guys but the most interesting name is Gheorghe Danut, the junior middleweight, look him up and tell me Glen Johnson got robbed a lot of times,Danut got robbed a million times.Anyway do you have a link to Armanson's fight and how did he get in the USA?Who is his promoter?

Yes, I think he can. Whether he will I'm not sure, it's a race against time with only 6, McDonagh will probably survive and fight defensively when there is only 6 and he is in Canada.

Skulli's fight is not anywhere online as far as I know. I do know some of his family and they tell me how it went, we all know each other here :good

He fights out of a place called Horton's Gym in Wisconsin. This is because some of the fighters in that gym came to Iceland to help boxing to grow here and to see the talent.

All I can tell about that fight is what they told me...his opponent was horrible and kept charging his head into Skulli's stomach  and throwing some wide shots. Skulli was just calm and jabbed him, pushed him away to get leverage on his shots and detonated shots on his head. He got a count from some body shots at the end of round 1, made it to the corner, but in round 2 he knocked him down and out and he was bleeding nastily! :happy

    He is very big too.

You all know everybody there?Geez what a small country, probably not more than 500000 population.Iceman is lucky fighting in the States,he can get exposure that way but it's hard to say he will be a force. So you didn't see the fight either?Well it's gonna be a while till he gets on ESPN but with this division even that Bogdan Dinu guy can take a belt.

Not everyone, but if you want to find someone you can. Everyone knows someone that knows someone that knows someone...etc

Nope, I'm "watching" his fights from Boxrec at the moment:lol:

Until he gets a little more exposure he won't even have clips on YouTube after only one fight. So I just have to get any info I can at the moment.

I'm glad he is in the States too. I guess it was that or the UK. He can't speak too good French/German or anything so he needed an English speaking country.
