Unfortunately due to the way society has gone. Also a lot of holligans went to footbal then, now that has been controlled to some point maybe boxing is their 'opportunity'?
It's a real catch 22 for a promoter, if you start banning, kicking out and turning away your target audience then you lose money because unfortunately live boxing attracts a lot of aggressive drunken buffoons that want to behave in that way. If you take a stand against them, in the short term you'll sell less tickets and lose a bit of money. However, in the long term, you might attract a different crowd of people from a different cross section of society and this will grow the sport to the masses. It will also mean that the sport attracts more advertisers and sponsors of a different nature and means extra money in the bank, as well as making it more attractive to broadcasters. Fighting in the crowds is part of the reason terrestrial channels don't want to be associated with the sport and that is a big reason that the sport is suffering. If people could just go and watch the event without feeling the need to act like total ****s, even in reaction to other people being ****s to them, then we wouldn't be discussing this now. It's not who starts it or is to blame that's the issue, the issue is that all this happens at all and by pointing fingers at people you simply make it worse in the long run and exacerbate the problem which is ongoing.
'He started it' Yeh but you cant say that because even though it may be true, blaming people wont help... 'Ahh right' ill let him chuck stuff at me then and wont say my version, as that wont help' Its the mentality to cause trouble that has created this, not simply the fact that one side blames another. Blaming a particular side to some, quantifies their reason to attack, i get that and we arent children, we know thats a problem. But some guy here came on with a version of events, didnt fight, didnt cause trouble yet is called being part of the problem and an idiot for being set upon. Ridiculous
That doesn't solve the problem unfortunately, there are sniffer dogs at almost every major music festival in the UK but having been to quite a few I'm confident in saying that a few people were on drugs! They have sniffer dogs at the O2 and it doesn't seem to do much to stem the problem. If a good portion of the crowd are carrying drugs it's impossible to search everyone just in terms of logistics, plus, if they conceal it in their shoes or underwear the police don't have an automatic to strip search everyone that a dogs sit next to so would probably have to let them in anyway. It might help to act as a deterrence but it wouldn't eliminate the problem, toilet attendants or police in the toilets would though, CCTV, or just a large move to get all the beak heads thrown out when they're seen taking drugs would start to make a dent in the problem I think. People that have paid £100 for a ticket aren't going to risk getting thrown out before the main event just for a line, and if they do then all the better that they're removed.
I did see a couple mancs getting 'filled in' on slater street later that night but thats a different story.....
Exactly this. I was in with a lot of scousers last night but I'm a neutral from Boro who wanted Crolla and Bellew to win. Where would you sit people like me? It's not something that would work nor should it be needed.
With all due respect to Macky, he could have got his point across a hell of a lot better than he did when he started off with the "bin dippers", "scruffy mongs" and general "scouse this, scouse that" stuff. That attitude to things is part of the underlying problem.
Doesnt change my point though. That opinion only causes fights if used it as some form of justification, the term bin dippers is used by many to describe liverpool fans. Judging someone on that basis is like judging the 51yr old woman who sits near us and wouldnt hurt a fly
It doesn't change my point either mate. Reading his first post, even in his own account, Macky doesn't come across a hell of a better than the people he is complaining about IMHO. I'm an old **** now and attitudes change with age so I'm not going be a hypocrite and be too critical of that attitude but if you've got out of your mid 20s and still think like that then somethings up.
