Any word on a possible Peter/Vitali Klitschko fight?

Has anyone heard where these negotiations are at? I, like most people, really want to see Peter fight WLADIMIR Klitschko, not Vitali, even though the odds of this happening soon (if at all) look bleak. It seems that Wladimir is already planning to fight Kirk Johnson sometime this summer, so it looks like Peter has to at least make one more fight before he can even consider fighting Wlad. At this point I DO want to see him fight Vitali simply so he can get it out of the way and clear the path for a unification bout against Wlad (of course assuming he beats Vitali, which I think he can).

If that doesn't happen, I would at least like to see him fight the winner of the Chagaev/Valuev rematch to narrow the field to two heavyweight title holders. Peter may not have looked that impressive against Maskaev, but he's still the most EXCITING heavyweight in boxing right now (even though David Haye could change that if he shakes things up at the heavyweight division). Povetkin is somewhat exciting to watch as well, simply because he never gives up and has a lot of heart.

    Anyway, any word on Peter/Vitali?

I doubt it will happen. Vitali will hold heavyweight hostage for yet another year. He will get injured in training and then threaten WBC to sue them if they dont keep him at his ranking as emeritus champ...
And then we will wait another year, and another, and another...

What a ****ing disgrace. Vitali and the WBC are killing the sport with this stupid behaviour...

Exactly, that's my feelings as well. I think Vitali is waiting until after next months elections before saying wether he will fight or not, I'm personally hoping he will win, so at least that will give Peter and King time to set up another match instead, probably Golota if I had to guess.

The fight is going to happen, as Vitlai has recently said he'd take the Peter fight, regardless of the mayor election's outcome. I think they are negotiating it now.

I think it'll be the best heavyweight fight in years. While the unification between Wlad and Peter will benefit the division by decreasing the number of titles, it will be put off for a while til Vitali retires for good (cause Vitali will beat Peter like a rented mule). So I highly doubt we'll ever see Peter rematch Wlad, cause Peter's career is about to take a trip down the toilet, after Vitali comes to fight him, cold, and beats the hell out of him.

But for now, and as for which fight will be the best fight....., Vitali Peter will be a much better fight than Wlad Peter II would be. Vitali does not hesitate to mix it up, and he and Peter will both be looking to take each other's head off. The power and solid chins on both of these guys will certainly make for a tremendous fight. I'd rather all the titles be unfied, too, certainly, as we all would........but regardless of what he says to the press, we all know that King would probably never volunarily risk Peter's title against the improved Wlad, anyway. Let's be real about it.

The fight is supposed to happen in Sept or Oct. Vitalit won't call the fight off after all that has happened in the past over his fight delays. No way would he call it off, again. He'll fight Peter, without question.

Can't see it happening to be honest. I think with Klitschko's recent injuries and inactivity plus his political career you wonder if he will be the same man that put up a brave albeit losing effort against Lewis. I doubt it and I also doubt he would beat Peter. Only time will tell I guess.

    This is a fuccing disgrace.

Vitali Klitschko should just RETIRE ALREADY. He is damaged goods, old and seriously injured. What... let me guess....... they'll officially announce the fight and then Vitali will pull out 2 weeks into training camp.

    Mark my words.

And, if this happens... ban him from boxing, please. Enough of these fuccin games.

    :-(

Your words have just been duely noted. Be prepared to eat a big pile of crow, or better yet, a big **** sandwich, when this fight comes off, does very good sales, and Peter gets pounded into a swollen pulp.

Correct me if I'm wrong HRH, but I get the impression, an inkling perhaps, that you think Klitschko will win. Nah, just ignore me, I'm reading way too much into this. :D

If the fight does happen, it will be the greatest Heavyweight fight in years, both men like to go toe to toe, both have solid chins, and there both extremely powerful. I dont know what Vitali has left in the tank, noone but him and Steward truly know, my guess is, enough to make the fight competitive for 6 or so rounds, in which it will be a war, where I see the more active and healthy fighter in Peter, landing something big and following up with more punches until the ref steps in to wave it off. 7th round TKO for Peter.

Heavyrighthand- If Vitali backs out of this fight for whatever reason, will you finally admit that Vitali needs to stop ****ing over his fans, oppenents, and Heavyweight boxing in general?

    Certainly.

He'll fight Peter, though, and a rested, supremely conditioned, and fully healed Vitali will beat Peter like he stole something. :good

I predict that after this fight, fight fans will see Peter in a new light, as he'll be beaten so thoroughly and decisively that fight fans will say what did we ever see in that guy?

Vitali will show his little brother the proper way to beat Peter, and how to do it, with authority.

I watched peter get knocked down repeatedly by mccline whos not exactly tyson. I dont think peter wants to fight vitali. its understandable. if vitali is healthy and of course that is a huge IF the fight is not even competitive

Fair enough Heavyrighthand, our opinion on the results differ, but at least we agree this fight will be great while it lasts.

Your hate for Peter has blinded your views a bit, correct me if I'm wrong, but you also said Maskaev would knockout Peter, that didnt happen, and Maskaev was at least more active than Vitali, and beat Rahman, a fight Vitali didnt want no part of, by backing out of 4 scheduled fights against him. Rahmans signature punch is the overhand right, something Peter throws quite well and often, that will be the punch that finishes Vitali.

McCline and Klitschko (circa 2005) are different animals. McCline is very skilled with short inside punches like uppercuts and short right hands. Vitlay is not. Vitlay does his work on long right hands and long wide uppercuts. His power comes at the end not up close like McCline.

Expect a slower and stiffer version of the 2005 Vitlay should he even make it through training camp. No way he beats Sam Peter.

Dan rafael said on his chat friday there has been a lot of discussion between the 2 camps but not much movement. Hopefully we will know something soon.
