They already said he is going to fight. K2 and Duva are already trying to get it put together. it is not if but when. There was an article that said win or lose the election Vitali is going to fight Peter.

Vitali says alot of things, he's not someone I would trust on his word alone. Vitali has already backed out of fights with less than a week notice, leaving everyone involved, high and dry. If the fight does come off, great, it will be one hell of a show for Heavyweight fight fans, but I'm really not counting on it to happen Rico.

If this fight happens, Sam Peter will get the beatdown of his life, and will be knocked out. It will be frightening and methodical.

Did you just pull that out of nowhere, or did you somehow confuse Kirk Johnson with Tony Thompson? The only person Wlad is fighting this summer is Tony Thompson, then he'll have to deal with Povetkin in the fall.

Johnson is nowhere near being in title shot contention. And Kirk already got a beat down from Vitali, I doubt he'd want one from Wladimir also :D

K2fan, yeah I meant Tony Thompson - my bad.

I'm glad to read that SOME progress has been made toward this fight, but like a lot of people on this thread I don't EXPECT it to happen - I just HOPE it will happen.

If it does, I worry about Peter's stamina. I don't see Peter taking Vitali out early because I think Vitali is a smart fighter that will find a way to avoid most of Peter's shots, and if he doesn't take Vitali out early that means the fight goes longer and Peter loses steam - QUICKLY. Anyone else notice that Peter looked absolutely SPENT by about round 5 of the Maskaev fight? I know he pulled off the knockout, but I still think he looked very sloppy and very exhausted without throwing a large volume of punches or using much body movement.

Now maybe he would train harder and be in a little better shape to fight Vitali than he was to fight Maskaev. He DID go 12 rounds with Wlad, Jameel McCline (after being knocked down three times) and twice with James Toney (all of which were more active fights than the Maskaev fight), so we know it is at least POSSIBLE for Peter to go the distance. I think this fight would be exciting BECAUSE there are so many X factors (Peter's stamina, Vitali's ring rust, both men's chins, etc.). Bottom line, this would be a great fight for the heavyweight division if it ever happens.
