I am watching the Rios-Acosta fight again and man that guy has skills.
I think that fight is FOTY so far.

I really want to see him again. No shame in losing to Rios and to be honest i think Acosta beats everyone at LW. JMM-Acosta would be a dream fight.

Right now i would love to see Guerrero-Acosta. I also think that would be a great fight. Winner of that faces winner of Soto-Antillon-Rios to face JMM.

I wouldnt mind having JMM face all these guys but i know he is on his way out and wants that big payday to retire.

Agreed, I'm an Acosta fan after that fight. The way he sat down and fired bombs in combination was awesome, he just ran out of gas under Rios's pressure.

Luckily there are a bunch of great fights to be made at '35 right now. I'd like to see him try and solve Vasquez.

I'm surprised it took the loss to Rios to make people really start following Acosta.

His performance against Antillon was an eye-opener as well. Maybe it's just that fewer people saw it? :conf

Exactly. I had never seen him fight live before. Even before the Rios fight when i was trying to look up footage of him all i could find was highlights of the Antillon fight and his 1 round destruction of his previous fight.

How do you watch so many damn fights man? I cant afford to buy all the PPVs to watch the "underground" fighters.

Im suffering from a hangover so i took some vacation time and i am going through my fight collection.
JMM has to be the best combination fighter i have ever seen!!! God damn it. Its like watching a surgeon in there. Such beauty....

I would have loved to see JMM-PBF at 130. Im not saying JMM wins but the fight would have been fought on more even terms and JMM punches would have done more damage.

Great fight with Paulus Moses too who was rated quite highly around the time Acosta beat him.

If I recall, the Antillon-Acosta PPV was the only big boxing card televised that Saturday night. It was originally supposed to be part of the Latin Fury series headed up by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but he wound up dropping out on a couple days' notice or something like that. So the main event became Antillon-Acosta, which was a million times better than Chavez vs. some bum would have been. :good Those tend to be a cheaper variety of PPV, too (and rightfully so, as the production value is so damn ghetto). It was probably like $25-30 or so. Well spent, it turns out. Most of those Chavez shows were busts, though.

Marquez-Mayweather at a fair weight (ie not above either man's ceiling in Marquez's case or at a point where one has to drain down in Mayweather's case) is a technician's wet dream! :deal

I watched the Antillon fight on youtube and was impressed, but Antillon was following him around and just begging to get hit. The KO was nice but it didn't totally grab me. Couldn't find the Moses fight.

Sometimes it takes a high profile, compelling loss to become a star. I'm amazed how much more respect people have for Katsidis now than they did two and three years ago.

Has there been Mijares threads? Why wasn't I told? And yes, I have a severe case of man-love for Cristian bordering on insanity.

When you have to call yourself the original at something, it doesn't bode well IB.

Well, research shows that "some bum" was Jason LeHoullier...who got a rescheduled date with Chavez just two months later on the very next Latin Fury PPV. Chavez sparked him in two minutes. :rofl What a horrible rip-off of a main event that would have been.

My research also turned up some of my own posts from the RBR that night (which was done by RightCross, back when he was the RBR king. Note: He still is the king emeritus in my view, I'm just keeping the throne warm until he or Viscount Arriba decide to return to regular action :bowdown). Antillon vs. Acosta actually wasn't a very aesthetically pleasing fight, and far from a FOTY. It was pretty damn ugly. Urbano fought like a MORON. Still, he was a very well regarded prospect at the time and got badly owned by Acosta. It ought to have been a star-making effort, but Acosta probably did suffer from a majority of boxing fans boycotting the Latin Fury bull**** by that point.

Looks like jpab needs a new fighter to idolise and be all individual over, I propose Mzonke Fana.
