I think Liakhovich may fall through the cracks, and lose his position at the top level of boxing, if he don't get back in there, and do something impressive, and soon. In my opinion, regardless of his impressive skill and toughness, he just don't seem to be a very marketable fighter, and now that he's been discredited by a bum like Briggs, he's even less in demand. I think he needs is to to build his knockout power by developing some upperbody muscle (but not too much muscle). Very small and underdeveloped upper body for a heavyweight. Don't go overboard and try to get Briggs big, but build some muscle. Very tough guy, though. If only he'd have stayed away from Briggs and coasted to a decision win.
He could've beaten Briggs if he didn't stand and mix it up with him, but even then.. even if Lyakhovich did win the Briggs fight, it was a bad fight for him all around. He just looked off for that entire fight. I'm hoping he can recover from the loss, but something's telling me he won't be able to.
I wonder if Kenny Weldon is still working with him? He was pissed as hell at SL after the Briggs fight.
That was stupidity - chasing standing still Briggs in the latest minute of the fight ... run Forrest ... run would ya say.
Yeah, its bad enough to be KOed by Briggs, but to be sent through the ropes, out of the ring, into the tables, while becoming covered in cords and various computer equipment.....that must have been even more humiliating. LOL Last news I read on Sergei L. was regarding a Toney fight, which never came about, obviously. Not yet, anyway.
Serg's a god guy - i'd like to see him back asap. he was leading briggs before getting caught by a good finisher...no real discredit there IMHO. I'd like to see serg v povetkin
