I think since Vitali lost the recent Mayoral race, he'll fight on, after the Peter win. He's only 37 and has not been in many real taxing and brutal war type fights, so I think he's got some miles left in him, assuming he can maintain his injury free status. At least, I hope he does fight on. He's the most exciting heavy out there. Vitali vs. Tua is looming on the horizon, after he takes Peter out. Then who knows? Vitali vs. Valuev for further unification............. Many great matches for Vitali if he fights on, and I think he will.
Thanks. If you think I can break down a fight, I beleive Vitlai will find Peter as easy to hit as Kirk Johnson. In fact, Johnson was the faster handed fighter, and threw better punches / combinations in comparison to Peter. While Peter will prove to be tougher, this is the type of fight I see unless Vitlai is shot. Peter is not a seek and destroy fighter. He fights with his jab, tries to land his right hand. He does not chase his guy down like Tyson did. Nor does he score late round TKO's. Peter's main goal is to back his man up on the ropes and throw wide punches with the hope that he lands something serious. Vitlai is a good mover in the ring, and a thinker. He will not get caught on the ropes. In additon, Peter will have a hard time fouling Vitlai with rabbit punches because Vitlai fights tall, and moves backward much better than Wlad ever did. The Travis Walker thing is just an internet rumor. Did any credible boxing person report it?
Not a peep? It was but a couple three weeks ago where they announced that both sides had finally come to an agreement, and the fight was slated for October, and possibly in Germany. What do you mean, not a peep? :blood Come October, Peter will get his beating. Don't worry, it's gonna happen. :good
I agree. Walker was not defending himself when that TJ guy was teeing off on him so the ref stopped it. What did he expect the ref to do? He has basic skills, okay power & nothing more. He doesn't even have the ring smarts to beat guys like that with only one try. & he's talkin' **** about what happening in sparring? **** that impossible to prove one way or the other I might add.
Yes, How do we know the rest won't do him some good? :good Fighters have come back from being out for quite a while, and kicked ass, right out of the gate. Vitali is always in great shape, and will make sure he's as prepared as he can possibly be. That, you can count on.
Yes, I watched those fights. Toney was fatter than Peter was and shop worn. McCline did not press the fight, which is why he lost. Peter went 12 with Toney, Toney, Wlad and McCLine. He went 10 with Pudar, Shufford, and Hawkins. My point is this. Peter is not a late round TKO or KO artists. His power and punch out put drops as the fight goes on, and if he's in there vs a guy who makes him move around, as Vitlai will, he will spend his reserves sooner than he wants to.
If you were breaking down a fight taking place in 04-05, I might agree with you, but were not, the year is 08 and Vitali has experienced injuries and has aged, his reflexes and timing will be way off, his upper body movement may have decreased as well, leaving him more open to Peter's big right. Watch Vitali in the Sanders match, Sanders rocked him and almost put him down early the fight, Sam Peter a more proven puncher, will do that more. As far as Johnson is concerned, the guy came in grossly overweight and seemingly unprepared for the task at hand, I feel you will agree with me on that. The Travis Walker knockdown did happen, the other knockdown against rapheal (cant remeber his last name) was more of a rumor. I read about the Travis Walker knockdown on the HBO website a few years back, and the other knockdown was shown on the site that talks about boxing, you can find it by putting this into your search engine "Sparring partners that knocked down Vitali".
I hear what your saying, I caught that fight on new generation on showtime, I was shocked to Walker blown out like that, but I guess **** happens. It sounds to me like it did happen, Vitali admits to messing up his knee on the way down to the canvas, which ended up being his fourth and final postponement with Rahman, and a couple weeks later he gave up the belt and retired.
Maybe. I remember having a slightly torn miniscus and still playing tennis. I had an arthroscopy and, man, what a difference. Maybe he's over some of the nagging injuries. I think he probably has fought some fights--and won--thru pain. .Remember the torn rotator against Byrd?...that was a severe injury...he had that fixed and everyone saw just what a monster he can be when healthy. Watch out, no one has the work ethic and pride of this man. I see this fight happening and I predict lopsided 10-11th round Ross Purrity like TKO with a gallant Pete's face:tired looking like mush..
There is stuff out there, but Walker does not confrim it in the article. Its sounds like BS from the promtoers to me to hype a then marketable Walker. There is no proof on this. Fighters can mess up their knees without being hit. See McCline vs Valuev. Or by being shoved down. Vitlai said he if thinks he can't win, he would retire. If he was dropped by Walker, he'd retire.
I always preferred Vitali to Wlad. Wlad looks like a complete pleb. Vitali looks like a mean mother****er. I like that in a heavyweight.
Let me do a little searching and I will PM you whatever I find, I remember it being on a few sites the last time I checked, let me see what I could find RUSKULL.
