When is Wlad Klitschko supposed to fight next? I heard he had an injury and needed to take some time off. Are Chambers and Povetkin just going to sit and wait out their title shots?

In the beginning of 2010 one of the two, most likely Chambers.

Should be Chambers or Povetkin early next year, an announcement should be made in like a month or so.

What's good about Wladimir is his activity, he's always ready to sign the best fight out there and as soon as possible.

  4. wlad vs chambers late jan/early feb and then povetkin mid june/early july was the last i heard

Povetkin might take his time. Like Teddy Atlas sad(who btw is his present consultant) "he has a lot work to do before Klitschko".

I find it funny how Povetkin beat Chambers

yet it appears Eddie will get the title shot at Wlad first.

man Povetkin's been waiting quite some time for that IBF shot.

If I remember correctly (I was watching it but didn't record it) in the interview with Vitali and Wlad a few hours after the Arreola fight, Wlad said his shoulder surgery went just fine and he'll be back in training next month (means October) and he expects the fight with Chambers will be signed soon for January or February 2010, this is the schedule anyway.

As for why Povetkin isn't too eager to step in Chambers' place, that should be obvious - he knows he'll get the beating of his life when he steps in the ring with Wlad, so he fares just fine with his fight being postponed over and over again. I suspect he's even got some step aside money from the Chambers management to make no fuss of Chambers getting the shot first, and that's suits him just fine.

If I were Povetkin, I'd keep it this way - fight minor opponents now and then to keep in shape and in the rankings, and cash in step aside money every time another guy happens to be that eager to fight Wlad... On the long run Povetkin could cash in much more money this way then to really fight Wlad for one good purse and then having to start from scratch when he gets obliterated... More money and less trashing ;-)

i'm all for povetkin avoiding the K's for a couple of years. i'm a huge klitschko fan, but to be fair it would be better for boxing if at least one up and coming fighter was allowed time to develop before getting his shot. the way the klitschkos are doing at the moment, future champions are having their careers stopped before they even got started

the way things are going, when vitali has retired the only fighters left for wladimir will be unseasoned prospects and fighters who have already lost to a klitschko. unless one or two fighters plan a long term heavyweight career and take some risks by fighting other contenders to get the experience they need, wladimir could still be on top of the division in 5 years time

    couldn't agree more!

Last thing I read was that Wlad is working on a fight vs. Chambers for February.

Why is it taking so long? Wasn't Wlad playing Golf recently? Then his injury can't be that bad...
Or is it more the trouble with the TV networks that is preventing him of stepping in the ring?
He should hurry up a bit, he has a legacy to build!

NO, NO golf. He had surgery after Chagaev, but then needed another to fix a small problem which caused him to miss the Dec 12th date. It takes time to be 100%. We start training camp in Jan for March fight

Probably Chambers in Febraury or March, then Povetkin in July.

What kind of surgery? I know that both he and Vitali have had shoulder surgery before but I never see and scarring on either one. Is it all arthroscopic?
