Any word yet on who Machida will fight next?

    I'm still a big Machida fan, and I'm really looking forward to him working his way back to a title shot. I think he'll have learned a lot from being beaten by the brilliant Shogun Rua, and will come back a better fighter in the long run.

    Since Rua was so difficult for the Dragon, I think it would be good to see Lyoto fight another kickboxer, to give him the confidence that he could beat that style.

    I'd like Brandon Vera as he is a kickboxer and it's a winnable confidence-booster for Machida, but I doubt he will be back for a long time since he suffered broken facial bones from Jon Jones.

    Rashad looks to be next in line for a title shot, I doubt Rampage would like to come off a loss and go in with someone who is as much of a bad style match for him as Lyoto, and I doubt Lyoto would fight Little Nog, considering they are friends.

    Who else is there? Jon Jones would be a very difficult fight for Lyoto coming off a loss. I don't like it when fighters come off a devastating loss and go right back in at the deep end, although it is brave I think it's a bit short-sighted, you really need to get your confidence back before facing a very dangerous guy again, so even though Lyoto is a better fighter than Jones, I don't think he is the right opponent at this time.

    Randy Couture is busy with the farce vs James Toney, Chuck Liddell and Rich Franklin are facing each other, Soszynski and Bonnar are facing each other, Hamill and Jardine are facing each other...

    could it be Forrest Griffin or Ryan Bader, or even a rematch with Tito Ortiz? Or someone else I haven't mentioned?

    Well for a week or 2 wiki was saying that Forrest Griffin vs Lyoto Machida seemed to be in the works for the event in the UK in October. My freind texted me Monday saying he read somewhere Forrest was out and that Rampage-Machida is being discussed which both are great fights either is fine by me.

    Thanks for the input mate. I see Lyoto-Rampage as a terrible style match-up for Rampage, I see that as a dominant and easy win for Machida. Rashad was far too fast for Rampage, and Lyoto was clearly faster than Rashad when they fought. Rampage would have no defence against Lyoto's kicks and his speed, it would be a destruction. I'd rather see Lyoto vs Forrest, that would be more competitive styles-wise (plus Forrest would have size advantages), though I'd still fancy Machida by KO.

    I pretty much agree with all. Basically everyone who fights Machida besides Shogun is going to have a style nightmare but we cant just avoid the guy can we ? I like either fight especially it its on the free Spike TV card in October seeing 2 former Champs go at it would be great hell even if it was Forrest-Rampage II id be down with that.

    For sure. They need to make that rematch eventually anyway that was one of the fights that was just close you gotta do it agian. I think the logical thing to do those is have Machida either of those 2 because there isnt to many other great options. Machida has already whooped up on Thiago Silva, Franklin-Liddell might be to close to when Machida wants to fight agian plus neither really deserves a fight with the elite just yet, he trains with Lil Nog from what I gather, Jon Jones and Couture have seperate fights in August so agian probably to close and right now Vera is coming off back to back losses I think he needs to build himself back up.

    This is a fight that needs to happen. Rampage has no business loosing to guys like Rashad and Forrest. He just doesnt fight smart enough sometimes. That said i think the wear and tear on his body is taking its toll.

    I would like to see them bring up Vitor to fight Machida.

    Jon Jones against ANYBODY will be a great fight.

    I'd like to see Rampage get an easy fight to be honest, or maybe even a rematch with Forrest.

    Lets keep Vitor at 185. Vitor wants to return in October or November how cool would a Wanderlei Silva rematch be ?

    Dana says it might be Rampage. I think that is a quality fight.

    Machida is lacking. I expected him to adapt for the shogun rematch but he didn't and in fact did the exact same thing as he did in their first fight.

    Shogun adapted and KO'd him.

    This leads me to believe that though good Machida cannot adapt and so will lose more matches. He's locked into a single style he cannot change.

    Machida did adapt for the Shogun rematch. He stayed in range more and tried to go blow for blow. Twice he put Shogun on his back. The problem is he is facing a devastating guy. If you can't make Machida pay for having his head up, lunging in etc you could get ****ed but Shogun is good enough to make him pay.
