If the fight isn't made Arthur should walk away from Warren...**** it, pay the breach of contract or whatever and just walk. If it is made, then fair enough to all concerned, but if not, I just can't shake the feeling that Warren is trying to set Alex up as a big scalp for someone to take...it has just failed up til now.

I doubt we will hear anything for a week or so. They will wait until the Hopkins/Calzaghe announcement dies down a bit on the Sports Network site then make an announcement.

I expect to see it on the undercard in Vegas come April 19th.

I'm quietly confident he could do a job.

I think it would make sense to put it on the Calzaghe-Hopkins undercard.

Think about it. Arthur has absolutely no chance in this fight. No hope. Guzman will completely outclass him, he is one of the most highly skilled and slick boxers in the world atm. Nothing that Arthur has should give Joan problems.

Arthur is Euro level. Pretty good, and maybe one day could pick up a WBO strap. But against a true elite like Guzman, he has very little chance of the upset.

Why is Warren going to send one of his fighters to his death?

    From FWs site...

"Purse bids for a fight between WBO interim super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur and full champion Joan Guzman have been called for Thursday by the WBO.

Arthur, 29, will be keen for home advantage against the classy Dominican, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

The 31-year-old was widely expected to vacate his title last year, but instead opted to stay at 130 pounds for a fight with Arthur.

    Guzman boasts a 28-0 (17) record, while Arthur is 26-1 (19)."

SN are bound to make a bid. Warren won't want to miss out on squeezing a few more quid out of the scots. And if Arthur wins, and he has every chance of pulling it off with home advantage, FW will have WBO champs in both Scotland and Wales. cha-ching.

Thats the way I see it rooq my good man. I feel its a win-win situation for alex, if goldenboy win the purse bids & alex has to fight on the Calzaghe undercard, thats good. Why? Cos Alex & Joe are close pals, & Arthur never tires of telling everyone how Joe Calzaghe is not only his friend, but his hero. If Alex was to be on Joes undercard, I really think he would be inspired going over there with his idol Calzaghe, & training alongside him. & of course he would be getting tips of old Enzo & stuff, Im sure Arthur would take a lot of confidence from that. Joe Calzaghe is a great fighter, & it may just inspire Arthur to a special performance in America.
However if the fight takes place in Scotland with the fans out in numbers cheering on Alex, that would be great too & inspire him also. Massive fight, & on a selfish level I just hope it happens in Scotland, just so I can be there. Cos even though I dont think so, Guzman to most is a p4p great. & it would be an honour to watch Alex partake in a fight of this magnitude.

    I just hope it hppens...

Unfortunately I can only see this fight happening in America. Would've been great to get a Scottish venue packed out for a World title fight again, not sure where it would've been? Kelvin Hall?

Anyway, we'll get the first defence over here hopefully! ;)

Better put me on your list Dunky as I can't see how Arthur wins this one. Sorry and all that.
