Theres that side to it but on the other habd at least they have the option of earning that way. Better that than nothing.
I know Tyson was in trouble financially but Jones too? Surely he doesn't have to do that, man, surely not. Where the **** his money go?
Why not? Its great for all parties involved. (to clear this up, this post is aimed at the question of why Jones and Tyson are doing these things.)
these shows are nearly always a total dissapointment you buy a ticket with the impression of meetin a fighter hearin a talk asking a question or two and gettin a photo in reality they turn up late dont answer many or in tysons case any questions then hold a auction and finish by charging extra for a photo/autograph.. a wise man once said never meet your heros and its never more true than in boxing
I don't think Jones needs the money. He should be rich considering all his contracts and he doesn't seem to have spent, like Mayweather, for example.
Its a good earner for fighters. Just because Jones says "yes" to a fortnight tour of the UK doesn't mean he's skint. Ray Leoanrd still does them and he's loaded.
i enjoy them but, as you say, you've got to be realistic about how much time and interaction you personally are going to get with the boxer.
there has been wee rumours kicking around that he has money problems. read something in the Ring after the Hopkins II fight, although they didn't go into specifics.
I can't see him doing these tours for the love of it. There must be some sort of underlying financial issue.
