Makes this thread all the better. You're not going to hear the end of it if Sanchez ends up beating a top 10 Write him off
I picked him over Ajagba but that wasn't exactly a hard pick. He has some ability but I'm not sold on him yet, he looks good when he's allowed to counter punch, not sure he could be as effective vs an opponent who makes him force the pace and lead. He'll need to show more than the win over Ajagba to get me excited about him. That win was much like when Hunter beat Bakole, made people pay attention but hardly a win that made people think this guy is the future or even a legit contender. Hunter backed up that win with a string of good performances over Ustinov, Kuzmin and Povetkin, Sanchez needs to do the same if people want to see him as a serious contender.
Another good post from you. We still have yet to see a top performance from Sanchez. I think he'll be a legit contender but as I've said. Ajagba sucks. If Sanchez fails against the top guys, oh well, but i think he can beats the Rivas's and the Chisoras right now. I'd wish he'd step up soon.
I like the the look of him and I think he is undderated. I picked him to beat the overrated Ajagba who is basically just a younger version of Wilder. Sanchez is good technically, good counter puncher, quick hands, good head movement and good foot work for a guy of his size. I can see Sanchez beating any of the PBC current HWs in Ruiz, Anderson, Wilder, Helenius, Ortiz and Martin.
I like watching him at least more than I do most heavyweights. He definitely has some skill and can Crack a bit but I'm not so sure he turns out to be anything special. I have been wrong about Cuban heavyweights before but it is easy to fall in love with how well schooled they are for sure and Sanchez is no exception. I'm in wait and see mode with him and am tuning in when he fights except for next weekend. I'm not paying for that BS card.
Sanchez is a very talented boxer, he is agile, he has good head, body and feet movement. He can beat Joyce, Joshua, Whyte, Wilder, in my opinion. I'm not sure about Usyk and Fury. But I'm sure he will win one of those 4 belts.
He's decent but he's too small, has no reach and doesn't pack a huge punch. I can imagine how the AJ fight plays out. AJ keeps him at range patiently for a few rounds with the jab, catches him and then finishes him with a combination. Usyk has shown what the small heavyweights require to beat the big guys in the division. And that's an insane gas tank and relentless head movement and amazing footwork. I don't see that package in Sanchez. So I see him struggling against AJ, Wilder and Fury. Maybe he can do something against the smaller guys though.
Hmm... He hasn't done much yet. He struggled far more than he should have with Fernandez, but a fighter can have an off day. Let's see him against a top 20 guy before talking about the top 10. I think trying to match him against Joyce would not end well for Sanchez.
Joyce is actually a bad match up for him, despite the fact that I'm not a fan of Joyce. I'd love to see the fight Sanchez beats Parker, Whyte, and Chisora in my opinion
I know he beat AJ but I still don’t have a high opinion of Ruiz and the Arreola fight lowered it tbh, but even then I still think he beats Sanchez. I can see a prepared Ruiz comfortably out landing him in every round if they ever did fight.
He has earned his spot and I give him credit and wish him the best. To be honest I have a hard time watching his fights, and I like scientific boxing.
I was impressed by Sanchez's performance against Ajagba. It reminded me of Usyk vs Joshua. He has some excellent boxing skills - he's rather small for the modern heavyweight division, but he makes up for it excellent footwork and fast hands.
They won't fight because they're on the same team but i guarantee you he'd beat Ruiz. We'll see how Sanchez's career pans out. You claim he doesn't have what it takes to become a top 10. I do, especially in this era. He would definitely school the likes of ancient Takam, fossil Arreola and mediocre Bryant Jennings
