anybody else find hayes inactivity more annoying than his failure to fight a klit?

Agreed. David Haye is much ado about nothing. All flash no camera.

And iv been saying this for a long while now...his inactivity is an embaressment. Theres nothing left to conclude but that he actually doesnt like training and fighting and therefore he does it only when he has to and for as much money as he can.

The guys had only about 20 odd fights....fights on average once every 9 months... and is retiring after his next one...

WHAT A JOKE...IF HE THINKS HES LEFT ANY SORT OF LEGACY ON BRITISH OR WORLD BOXING HES MISTAKEN. Hes a lazy inactive twat who talks up his joke fights for 9 months of a year and then its always a load of crap

He clearly doesnt even like boxing. Hes not a boxer whose career you cant follow because he hardly ever ****ing fights. And when he does its the biggest anti climax ever against shite opposition

Well he did fight audley and ruiz wasnt great either by that point so i dont think its that much better

the thing is you cant blame him for taking the audley fight, lets be honest hed have to be an idiot not to want all that money for that little effort but its the thinking having a fight as poor as that (lets remember 2 rounds were some of the worst anybody will ever see), against an opponent as poor as that can justify leaving it 8-9 months to have another fight

i want to like haye but i hope if he leaves it till may/june and doesnt choose a good opponent it totally bombs financially

Inactivity is annoying but big fights not getting made is the most annoying.

I would have considered him my favourite fighter up until the last 6 months or so, now I am rapidly coming round to your way of thinking.

Id like him to fight more.I thought he would be fighting early this year cos he barely broke sweat in the Audley fight. But it seems like he is going to have his usual lay off.
If he was more active it would put pressure on the brothers to fight him.As it is he just seems like a guy in the back ground mouthing off who never seems to be in the ring. His last outing was so farcical you would think he would want to get in with a real challenger and soon.

We are more harsh on our fighters then any other country. If Haye was German they would be happy for him to keep defending against B/C level opponents and just to keep hold of that strap.

    Yep.

I think the other issue is other than the Klitschko's who else is there to fight? The division is full of B/C level fighters.

The Audley fight was a total farce but he trained as hard if not harder than he ever has, plus there was a lot of promotion as it was a big fight. The fight itself he hardly broke a sweat but he still had the training camp etc. So I can understand wanting a break.

He has a young family, when he's in camp he's isolated from them, if he fought 3 times a year he'd spend less time with them than without them.

Twice a year is acceptable to me, it's just that other than the Klits there is no-one to fight and those guys have a monopoly on the division, picking and choosing who they fight and when...

That's actually a very good point, mate. We've become used to the top fighters only fighting twice a year now but just because that’s the norm it does not make it right. We really need to see the best fighters in the world more often than twice a year IMHO. 5 times a year at the elite level would be unreasonable, but nobody can tell me that these guys can’t fight once every 4 months? FFS it only takes 2 months to train and get in tip top shape for a fight. If you ask me fighters are training for far too long before fights and not fighting enough. 12 week camps can be counter productive sometimes.

That extra fight per year, keeps them sharp and it really improves them. It also gives the public an extra chance to see them, by staying in the public eye they raise their profile.

But these guys have kids and families. 3 x 10 week training camps is 30 weeks of the year gone...

Agreed. I can't blame UK terrestrial tv for turning its back on boxing when this is what one of the country's so called stars offers.

I can assure you the reason they fight twice a year is not because of their "kids and families" it's because they can make a living turning out just 2 times a year and they don't have to fight more often. It's not about the kids and families, they still spend 12 weeks in training camps.

There really is no reason they can't be out at least 3 or 4 times and as i said it's better for them because they won't stagnate. It really makes a difference not only to a fighters sharpness but popularity. Oscar De La Hoya fought 5 times in '97, it's no coincidence that was one of his best years and it was at a time he was trying to increase his profile. And he should know something about staying in the public’s eye.

Manny Pacquiao and Wladimir Klitschko fought 3 times in 2008, big brother Vitali did it in 2009, so did Andre Ward and JuanMa Lopez. Something happened to each guy when they did that...our impression of them changed and they also put in great performances in the main. There's a reason the old time fighters were tougher and more refined, it's because they fought more often. There's nothing like it to improve as a fighter then getting in that ring as regularly as possible and letting it become second nature. It doesn't have to be a "life and death" fight each time.

I'd have thought it would be a consideration to be honest... But then again if he plans to retire at 31 there will be plenty of time for them then.
