Fighters have been DQ'd for holding, hitting guys when they're down Why not for holding your opponent and running him into the corner in order to smash his face into the turnbuckle??? It could be any fighter, it just so happened to be Barrera
This isn't a debate. I acknowledge Barrera should not have done what he did, but he got punished, and took his rightful place as the best 126lb fighter on the planet. I'm a huge Boxing fan. Love the sport.
And I can't relate to a boxing fan who thinks its OK for a fighter to restrain his opponent in a headlock, march him across the ring and sneeringly slam his head into the ringpost. It was a wrestling move for ****s sake, and has no place in a boxing ring. I am not particularly a fan of Naz, realised that Barrera was comfortably winning the fight (not a schooling) at the time of the incident and thought that he had blown it for no reason as I was sure that he was going to be DQ'd...its ancient history now, but what would have happened if Naz had gone down and stayed down after the incident? How do you think that Uncle Joe would have dealt with it?
I feel sorry for you selfkill - you come on here all excited about goin to your first fight, make a thread you hope to find other keen fans, and all you end up with is two guys who just want to drag you down And i'm the last person you'd expect to be saying this - i'm a huge Morales fan and i cant stand Barrera!
i'm sure all the hamed apologists would like to have seen barrera DQ'ed, at least their man would've saved face with a "W".
I hope selfkill gets beaten up by the UK fans for supporting the mexican!! word of warning selfkil british fans wont take kindly to you cheering Barrera and if your next to me ill knock your sombrera off and maybe ya head!!
MAB is not really a very "clean" fighter, its really no surprise. Boxing being a physical sport is prone to such instances. He was given the necessary penalty for that, but i dont think a DQ was warranted.
I couldn't give a flyin' **** what the British fans think. Why should I be obligated to cheer on a fighter just because he happened to be born in the same country as me? Barrera is the style I like, he had the HOF career that I greatly admire, so it will be him I will be cheering on, and I will continue to do so until he finally hangs up his gloves.
don't worry selfkill, i have been to khan fights and his fans aren't too bad, and real boxing fans know what a legend Barrera is. I am going to see this and will have a lot of money riding on Barrera winning by KO at 3-1.
Yeah Im going selfkill, im from the uk but am also a fan of mexican/south american boxers, im gonna try and be a neutral but il want barrera to win but most of all i want it to be a decent fight, i know maccarinelli is on the undercard have you heard any other fights
