Anybody else surprised by how accurate Guerrero was to the body?

I'm not talking about the smothered shots in the clinch, I'm talking about the straight lefts to the pit of the stomach, the right jabs to the mid section, and the combination hooks anytime Floyd ducked down and escaped and Guerrero chased after him. I can think of a handful of right jabs that landed on Floyd's face, but power shots to the body are the point where Guerrero had most success IMO.

Obviously didn't make a significant difference in the fight, but usually I think of Floyd's body as being very hard to get to. Lots of risk involved and it's usually protected behind the shell. Guerrero did better with body-punching earlier but was still able to get off there in moments in the second half.

I didn't see Guerrero being so successful to the body. I saw Floyd being defensive and elusive, blocking body punches with his arms. I'd have to re-watch the fight.

Guerrero actually had a very good gameplan early on. First time I've seen anyone counter his straight right with combinations to the body. However Guerrero is a slapper so his shots didnt bother Floyd at all.

He just had a solid plan which Floyd adjusted to by the 3rd-4th round. Body counter after straight right. Floyd likes to duck under after throwing that cross...most guys go for the head. Smart strategy by Guerrero. But, Floyd adapted by ducking even lower and effectively neutralized that counter.

That's what I saw. Instead of just taking the right and waiting to reset or missing up top he followed up with some good combos to the body afterward. But he does slap and Floyd started sitting down on the right hand more and stunning Guerrero.

I loved that jab to the body by Guerrero

I just thought Guerrero really fought a dumb fight, maybe he wasnt gonna win no matter what but i thought he was trying to hard to walk him down and fight in close when he showed the ability to jab the body and use distance

    Bullcrap!

Be real. Guerrero tried both avenues, actually three.
Long distance, mid, and short distance.
Mayweather turns out to be to quick and fast at any of those distances vs Guerrero.
When you have that working against you, you need apply the plan JC Chavez did vs Meldrick Taylor. You stategically place yourself in places you're going to take a nice shot or two in order to land a bigger of your won.
Luckily for Mayweather there are'nt any JC Superstars around with the style that can give him a run for his money.

There's a poor man's clone of Chavez a divsion above Mayweather who has no intention of fighting.
That should tell us all we need to know about Mayweather's gonads and his desire to test himself against someone with a real chance.

I don't think the adjustment was ducking lower, the body doesn't move, it was pulling back in the shell and throwing to the body and putting more power on the looped right so Guerrero wouldn't be so trigger-happy in the follow up.

Yeah he actually countered Floyd well early on. The problem is he waited too much and stuck with that gameplan when it was no longer working. He should have stepped it up and made it a roughhouse fight - as he did with Berto. But it was like someone slipped him a Nyquil. Very disappointing showing from Guerrero - even though he was outclassed he was capable of doing more in there.

Also Floyd started throwing that right hand to the body and Robert stopped throwing that left bc he was feeling those shots. Then Floyd started coming back up top. Robert was shook after that. He did land a good one and Floyd took it but it kind of looked like he felt it pretty good.

Not really he landed a few in clinches and on the break but only one good one I saw that had some meat on it

Most of the crap guerrero was doing was feeding off the scraps foyd gave him. You can give him props for that but frankly he`s a vertran multi weight world champion he should have been able to bring more to the table then that. If the best part of your game plan is occassionally hitting a guy in the body while he smacks you in the jaw with a power punch thats a pretty weak game plan.

Yeah, I must say, poor showing on Robert's part.

Part of me thinks that Robert may have simply seen this as an opportunity to get all preachy. A "fun" way to promote his religion and donate to cancer survivors and whatnot.
