1976 Shavers 1990 Foreman In a 12 rounds fight I see Shavers scaring everyone and hurting George having him rocked several times. Middle round s.George is still there grinding him down. Late round s.Earnie is gassed and hurt and stopped around 10 -12 . Anyone confident that the Acorn could pull this off?
0 chance. In a fight between two punchers with 1 having a granite chin and the other being a glass cannon. There's only one winner Foreman.
I agree, but I can see Big George mightily rocked. As far as primes go, I think George would get floored hard before winning by KO in 5. It would be a bit like the Lyle fight, except George would take longer to get up maybe lol.
Not sure I'd say Shavers had a glass chin ( if that's what you mean). Most of the time he was stopped against elite opponent s who could out box him and stop. I know that wasn't always the case but do think he'd at least hang in there for a while against Foreman.
Shavers' planet-cracking power will have to be revised down to continent busting only in this matchup. Old Foreman's chin was MUCH better than his younger version, and moreover he was a smarter fighter. Foreman tanked Briggs' bombs all night. Briggs had the size and chin to return salvoes ... I don't think Shavers has. Shavers was not that hard to land on and I think Foreman will land a ton of stuff on Shavers in turn. Foreman by KO, probably.
Glass chin no but I wouldn't say he's the most durable fighter and he has suspect stamina. The only time I see Shavers pace himself was against Ali and even then Ali did virtually nothing for 10 rounds. Old Foreman knew how to pace himself and he's extremely durable with even more mass. Shavers would get into a shoot out and would be stopped in the middle rounds.
Foreman was sloppy against Lyle he was coming off a lay off and didn't look sharp. I think Foreman would've performed better against Lyle between 1972-1974. And I also think Foreman in his prime doesn't have as much trouble vs Shavers as he did vs Lyle in 1976 after coming off a lay off.
No. Shavers had a poor chin and Foreman could take it. George also hit like a hammer. Early night for Foreman. KO2 over Shavers.
Yeah, I think Earnie would have had trouble lasting two rounds against that Foreman. But if Earnie lands, George goes down. I think any George, coming off the canvas or not, ultimately knocks prime Earnie out hard, it's just which round it happens.
