Sky paid £12m to have the fight and we're expecting at least 1m buys to make a decent profit, I loved the fight and bought it but 10 of my mates who probably would have bought it came round mine and we all chipped in with a takeaway and a few bevvies - so you can see how easily those PPV buys drop. I'm glad in a away, hopefully Sky think twice about these **** PPVs. May 30th is going to flop badly.

What is the highest earning PPV involving a British fighter?

I don't see how sky could have expected 1 mil buys. That seems way off.

I was wondering on a global scale, thought it might be Hatton vs Mayweather

I've been told that from my friend who works in accounts for Sky, I don't really see how he'd be high enough to know that but he probably spoke to somebody in another department. He said they spent £12m buying the rights.

If Groves / Froch 2 did 1m buys, Hatton Pacquiao did 800k and Hatton / Mayweather did 1.4m buys - it's not out of this world to think Sky assumed they could get 1m PPV buys for the biggest fight this generation as ever seen mate. Bellew / Cleverly did 400k buys, so I bet they thought they'd at LEAST get about 600k to break even.

Mayweather / Hatton did 1.4m buys, Froch / Groves 2 did 1m buys (or just under that). But Froch / Groves 2 was slightly more expensive than Mayweather / Hatton. Can anybody remember if Mayweather / Hatton was £14.99 or less? That extra £2.99 that Froch / Groves 2 cost spread over 1m buys obviously adds up.
