Boxrec has them fighting three times, winning a controversial decision and a straight up decision - no way was our man wearing the cuffs in either one of those. The third one? He was knocked out in the sixth round. I would be shocked if he lost that one on account of he was cuffed, LaMotta had just beaten Sugar Ray Robinson after all. Is there another fight that is not listed?
Read it in onna the Proquest Afro American paps, pay per view at my local lib. Will relocate and post.
What I want to know his how he gave Jake the trouble he did as it says he punched him from 'pillar to post' in one article, so did he 'outpunch' Jake or was it through boxing? Look forward to it

thanks Slakka got the email will read it later, my computer is crashing when i open it so ill get my brothers computer
Sub headline is 'Bookies profit as Jim loses' The paper remarks that Reeves won the first 2 bouts but that lamotta was a 4 to 1 favrouite and some 'wise guys' benefitted from this. And later Lamotta was a 8 to 1 favrouite as more people followed the 'wise guys' lead. It seems the regular puntors got suspicious of Lamotta being a heavy favrouite and bet on him and the 'wise guys' tried to get the black punlic to bet on reeves but not many did. Another interesting point is that '(Reeves) wasn't paid too much and fought accordingly.' Perhaps he was disappointed with his pay? Well the fight was even going into the sixth according to the paper at 1-1-3 and was a terrific fight by both men fighting at a hard pace and really punching. Although in the sixth Reeves went down from a left 'lovingly on the jaw' and stayed down. It looked a weak punch and after teh count he got up easy and fresh.
Cheers pal. Maybe he did take a dive, although it was also the second KD of the round, was it not? Also, LaMotta was in his absolute prime at this point.
Did not mention if it was the second KD. The writer obviosuly thought it was a dive and the betting odds might back that up, but you cant tell really? He also mentioned in the article that Reeves was admired for his honesty so it would be out of character for him, maybe he just couldnt be arsed having a hard fight with a beast of Lamotta.
Further investigation would require combing through all Detroit paps and a check of The Ring Magazine.
