I see Freddie is his trainer now. His fight is coming up on Aug. 14th against Holmes. Would like to see a new and improved Minto in there with Roach on his side now. Can't wait!:bbb

    Minto-Holmes on Friday!

At the conclusion of training camp on Friday, WBO #8, WBA #15 heavyweight Brian “The Beast” Minto (33-2, 21 KOs) announced that his August 14th WBO NABO title fight against WBC #13 Donnell Holmes (31-0-2 27kos) will be televised live on Armstrong Cable and telecasted live at www.MintoFight.com. Armstrong, the nations 16th largest cable operator, has over 5 million subscribers combined throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland. The heavyweight clash may also be watched live worldwide at MintoFight.com, and may be purchased for $9 or 7E.

Minto states, “After a productive training camp with new trainer, Freddie Roach, and receiving great sparring over 6 weeks at the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood, I feel fully prepared for August 14th.”

The venue, Pullman Park in Butler PA, expects nearly 5,000 spectators for the Minto-Holmes clash.

“Already with a great deal of local enthusiasm, I wanted to enable fight fans worldwide an opportunity to view my fights live; therefore we created www.MintoFight.com,” Minto added.

When heavyweight Brian Minto (33-2, 21 KO’s) steps into the ring on August 14th (NESportsTV.com PPV, $10 USD, conversion rates apply outside US) against Ivanhoe, North Carolina’s Donnell Holmes (31-0-2, 27 KO’s), he’ll have a new trainer in his corner: 2008 Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach. “I just took a shot and called him and said ‘hey” and told him my deal and my record and asked if you mind if I come out and train? He said I’d love to have ya”, said Minto recently, adding “We hit it off with a good relationship. Freddie is a great trainer but other than that he’s a good person..”

Wow this is good news! I like Minto although I do not think he will be a HW champ. Trainers can make all the difference though and if any trainer can push him to his full potential it is Roach!
