Brewster used to be one of my favorites, always brought it. What's he up to now?

Klitschko battered him, but I didn't recall him being injured or retiring.

    Is he scheduled to box?

    What's going on here??!:huh

I myself was a huge fan of Brewsters, and have followed him since his fight with Eitienne in 2000. I have messaged him myspace decent amount over the last year, but havent heard from him in a couple months. The last one I got from him said he was looking to come back and try to get a rematch with Liakhovich, in hopes of getting another title shot, since then I havent heard anything from him, I think he got offended when I asked him to get rid of his trainer Buddy, and try to get with Roach.

Too bad he was one of the last heavyweights who was exciting to watch.

 He always tried to make the fights exciting. I remember going to the Brewster-Golota fight in Chicago. It was a real shock to the Polish group sitting next to me, seeing Brewster knock Golota out in spectacular fashion.

    :good

That's cool that he'd take the time to answer you.

I think Brewster is one of the kindest and most down to earth personalities in the division. I'd love to see him return, and rematch Liak. Given that Liak is now in a lull, that''d be a good matchup/rematch for both fighters. :good

As far as trainers right now, I think Freddie Roach would be a better fit for Brewster.

Freddie doesn't change a boxers style, so much as add to it. I like Roach alot. And I don't think Brewster was listening to McGirt anyway, as far as trying to box. The guys a puncher! He just needs to improve the movement.

To me, Lamon was the champion of his era.

Byrd and Ruiz disgraced their belts with all the split decisons/majority decisons/screw jobs/weak competition/losses-turned-to-no-contests/non-efforts/cheating/holding etc.

Vitaly was not a legit champ. He won a vacated belt, defended it agaisnt a nobody, and held us all hostage.

Lamon, now there was a champ. He had his bad fight agasint Meehan, but his gusty brawls with Klit, Lyocovich, and Krasiniqi, and his blow out of Golota will live on in memory forever.

I was shocked and amazed the night on Showtime that Meehan had Brewster on the ropes, wailing away on him. The shots didn't seem hard ( at least not from the comfort of my easy chair LOL), but I guess they must have been, cause Brewster looked ready to go on a few occasions. But he did manage to stay erect...... But he really lost that fight, in my opinion.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. After reading a few things before the Brewster/Wlad 2 fight, Buddy said he was not going to fight the same way again, and that wont get hit as much. He also would go on to say that Brewster cant fight the wars anymore and that they have already taken it's toll on him, and he just wants to be able to talk in sentences with his kids when his career is over.

Brewster only knows one way of fighting, if you try to teach him another way, it just wont work, as we seen in the Wlad fight, where he tried to box with him, instead of making it a brawl where Wlad gets very uncomfortable fighting.

I think if Brewster was to get himself into a good postition, he may be able to sell a third and final installment in the Wlad Brew thing.

jesus.what is that in your avy :yep

anyways, i remember brewster saying he wanted a third fight with wlad, which is suicide. his style doesnt lend itself to long careers. like the Goat Herder, he uses his face to deflect punches which is a bad idea at hw. u just cant let big men abuse u like that.

very exciting fighter who was always a great sportsman. a real credit to the sport but i think he's done as legit threat. too much punishment. hope im wrong

I think Brewster probably took more punishment from Klitschko in that rematch trying to box the way Buddy told him than he would have gunning for the KO.

Because really, Brewster isn't ever going to slip punches and dance around the ring. He's not made that way, and all boxing Buddy McGirt style meant to him was trying not to get hit and limiting his punch output.

The more I think about it, I'd really like to see Roach work with him, because Roach can do wonders (Pacquiao comes to mind) with punchers.

Brewster just needs to emulate a young Tyson, with head movement and combination punching. :yep
